F is for Failure.
FAIL.
Yes. Just walked out of my last exam. Fuck that was lousy. Looks like I'll have a busy summer cramming 4 subjects, hopefully it won't be 5.
Now that I think of it I've never failed any classes before. I feel... rebellious.
How did you cunts do in your exams?

Yeah I had a test on that also, linear algebra and differential eq's, I thought I knew it pretty well since I was able to do all the tests from previous years fine but then I saw this one. What are you majoring in btw?

I got As on all three, no excuse not to considering all I took was chemistry 002 (which is like highschool chemistry), anatomy (I'm excited to get to physio in the fall), and English 1B (another comp class).
I'm not looking foreward to summer chemistry, it's not for a grade though so it shouldn't be too bad since there's no pressure.

i am not sure if our educational system is quite the same as others', but i'll (hopfully) be finishing my first 3 years in mathematics (BA?) this summer and then 2 more years in computational mathematics (pretty much just programming with some math and maybe some more "mulitmediatic" stuff)

That whole "fuck school" mentality is a real shitty attitude to have.
Anyway, I didn't take a class this semester. I'll be back in the fall and going to take some sort of an art history class.

Cool, I had a feeling you had to be in mathematics or physics. Why the BA instead of BS may I ask? While I was in America I never understood why universities had separate BA/BS's for science careers like bio, phys, maths etc. if it's still science.
I'm studying environmental science (4-year BS in America, 5 years over here), but after I pass these courses in September I *might* consider switching over to Chemistry.

i really don't get the distinction either. i know at my particular school, and in my particular major, the difference in requirements between a BS and a BA is an extra semester (maaaybe two tops) of foreign language instruction. both are still the same number of credit hours and have the exact same major requirements, why even bother with two separate degrees

Re: F is for Failure.
i have no idea what a BA or a BS is (and there is no distinction/you cannot choose here in croatia, first you finish 3 years and get a worthless piece of paper that won't get you even a toilet cleening job and then you go on for 2 further years to "specialise" or whatever so you can get your "proper" diploma, alothough i guess it's called a "major" now), i just saw that most/all people in other countries reference to their first 3 years as a BA study so i drew an analogy. what do those 2 acronyms mean, anyway? bachelor of? (anus? sex? atrocities? sepultura? what?)

Re: F is for Failure.
bachelor of arts, bachelor of science
they're the basic post-secondary four year degrees. there's also an associates degree, which is a two-year post-secondary program, which tend to be on the vocational/practical side of things. you can't get into graduate school (e.g., masters or doctoral (Ph.D, MD, etc.) programs) here unless you have a BA/BS (or equivalent for international transfers).

Re: F is for Failure.
Did some web searching, apparently BA's have less mathematics and computer science courses than BS's, and are a common choice for people who want to educate. BS's look better on resumes for research/more technically demanding jobs. Don't see how you can have less math with a math career though. People with math degrees have really high paying jobs in top banks and stuff, at least over here it's one of the most lucrative careers you can study.
No BA/BS difference over here, though that might change now since the entirety of higher education is adapting to the European model (4-year Bachelors, instead of 5 years), can't complain really, 4 years sound way more reasonable than 5.

the European model (Bologna process): 3-year Bachelors+ ~2-year master's

Chemical engineering/science bachelor or some kind of associates degree? I don't know how it is in America but I have an associates degree in environmental chemistry and it's not particularly useful for anything, I did learn a lot but you still end up being considered underqualified for any kind of sophisticated lab/industry job. It's really much better to go the extra mile and get a bachelors.
Working in the metallurgy industry sounds pretty... metal.

Well I'm sure that at other foundries you'll need a bachelor's or higher, but where I am is probably not necessary. Just helps to know the extra facts about metallurgy to make doing the jobs easier.
