The F-16 Fighting Falcon is called a "Viper" because of Battlestar Galactica (the main fighter ships on both versions of the show are referred to as Vipers).
Its successor, the F-22A, is called a Raptor. Anyone know if this so because of Battlestar Galactica's other small ship, the Colonial Raptor (though that is thought of more in the likeness of an SH-60 Seahawk)?
