muscle injury, strain and bruises

So this morning on my day off I got a pretty big shock. My fore arm has a bruise. And at the back of my knees there is a large bruise on each leg.

All sorts of thoughts going through my mind, but then I think, did I warm up before doing those deadlifts on Sunday and the answer was no.

Have you guys seen bruises from exercise?

A hamstring pull or tear can produce some bruising in the area, but you'd know if that were the case because of the pain.

This is what I found this morning on both my legs and on my right forearm. There's a smaller bruise on my ass which obviously I am not going to post. And I have red dots around my neck and near the bruised areas.

The arm bruise has acquired a purple color so I think it might be getting better.

Bruise healing, as of today. Hard lesson learned, always warm up and stretch properly. I still have a doctor's appointment for next week but by then these will be gone.

I doubt anybody cares about this now, but it turned out the bruises were because I had a low blood platelet count at the time. Don't know exactly why but I'm ok now.

I had a complete blood count done. My platelets were 60 thousand something when they should be in the range of 130-400,000.

After examining my blood test results, the GP/family practitioner determined that this was certainly the cause for the bruising. He asked me to come in for a second blood test after a couple of weeks to see if the platelet count had improved. He said if it did not he would send me to a hematologist. But since my platelet count did improve, he found this not necessary.

I had a bad cold the week before I exerted myself n the gym. My platelet counts may have been low by then, which might have caused the bruising.

also, i might be wrong, but low platelets typically causes a different pattern of bruising from what you had

I can relay your feedback to my doctor. I will tell him there is a stranger on the internet who lives in the UK who thinks this diagnosis was wrong. He might change his view after hearing your concerns.
