Hey guys, I'm stuck.
Have any of you ever tried using one of these to achieve this?

i actually have a very nice high-end surround processor on loan from a fellating lover for a trial run, he upgraded and offered it to me for a shockingly low price
i think i am gonna have to turn it down though because i don't have space and also only a 2-channel setup

Got it to work. TV somehow did not have optical out turned on. Reset to factory setting and now the toslink works fine, which, going through the audio decoder outputs 5.1 surround sound through my newly purchased Logitech z506.
The audio decoder cost me just $20.
