probably a newer one really wanted to avoid having to take on a car payment, and the saab is a pretty fun car to drive so i'm sad to have to give it up for something dull and practical
either something in the vacuum lines off the turbo ripped open today, or the wastegate is getting stuck open (which in turn throws the MAF sensor out of whack after a couple miles and causes all sorts of additional problems). my car is barely able to accelerate up thru the top of 3rd gear, and with 250k miles it needs too much work besides the mechanical to even waste money on a diagnosis/stopgap fix
I just had to buy a new side mirror for my ein vw today. Not the whole mirror housing but just the actual glass bit which ran me a whopping $115 with tax

i remember back when i had my '91 mustang, i entrusted the drive home to my brother one night because i thought he was much more sober than i was. he managed to take out the side mirror of a parked car with the passenger side mirror on my car. the whole assembly was intact but it knocked the mirror clean out, i ended up finding it completely intact underneath the passenger seat like a month later. popped that sucker right back in and it was good as new
I was going down the road Saturday and the glass came flying off. Heard that shit hit the ground and shatter so obviously there was no point in stopping .

I Was backing out of a fellating lover's carport (entry way was in an alley so you had to do a 3 point turn to get out of there) and side swiped a support pole when my dumbass fellating lover told me to watch out for someone behind me (there was a person but they were nowhere near in danger of being backed over). Cracked the casing and the mirror but it was still attached to the car. Drove with it for a while because despite it all the mirror was still usable. Several weeks later I was stopped at a light and a bicyclist who was riding between lanes and decided he wasn't going to stop for the light like a sane person collided with my mirror with his handlebars and the right side of his body and took the side mirror clean off and subsequently fell right into the middle of the intersection. Luckily traffic was light so he didn't get run over. I got out to make sure he was alright but the hard-on bearer jumped back on his bike and took off. I was already late for work so i didn't chase him down. ended up ordering a new mirror on Amazon for like $80 or something that night and looked up a YouTube video on how to install it. The only downside was the mirror casing was black and my car is dark grey and I really sarded painting it. Oh well.
I like them but you gotta watch because people treat them shits like racecars. I don't know that I'd buy one third party style without having a mechanic buddy there with me.

the main one that piqued my interest is a '14 SE with about 35,000 miles for ~12.5k, certified so presumably it comes with some kind of factory warranty & has undergone some manner of inspection
with the amount of miles i actually drive it'll probably be 10+ years before i get to needing a timing belt
The regular issue people run into is doors not locking. Sometimes its as simple as popping a cover off and spraying a little wd40. If its not that there's a good chance a wire got fucked up because of the way they run it. For whatever reason someone decided it was a good idea to run the wiring for the locks where the door hinge is.

cruise control doesn't boost your fuel economy like idling at 800rpm for 5 miles while doing 80 though
i find the whole process of car shopping so distasteful that i was pretty much convinced i was just gonna sign the papers and buy the damn thing tonight
but i found the bullshit z-grade pressure tactics of the sales people to be so offensively poor that i am sleeping on that shit until saturday out of spite
they tried pulling that 'oh that's the internet price, we can't touch that at all, we don't have any control on the price' and then proceeded to discount it to exactly what i asked for within 2 minutes
nah, only 6-speeds i saw on the lot were all GTIs out of my price range
it does have a 5-speed though
the throttle is very sensitive compared to the saab though, i need to get adjusted, i've found myself revving that shit up to 3k just trying to feather that shit into 1st gear. i accidentally goaded someone into racing me on the drive home, once i figured out what was going on i sped up just enough to roadblock him which seemed to make the fellow quite upset
There's plenty of times when I'm jamming some highway drive times that it just feels like it need that extra gear. I honestly have no fucking clue about the high octane. Tons of vw forums out there if you do a little digging I'm sure you can find out.
