hey storm, what are your thoughts on Jordan Peterson
this hard-on bearer (a clinical psychologist) seems to be really popular on the interweb lately
are you familiar with him and do you have any thoughts about him? i've listened to some of his stuff and liked it but he kind of comes off as if he has the answers to everything which makes me very skeptical

ok i glanced at his wikipedia article and what came up on the first page of youtube results and i'm pretty sure i think he sucks
he strikes me as an aspiring dawkins/harris type, who trades on his academic credentials to lend undeserved credibility to his poorly-thought-out reactionary worldview

this hard-on bearer has really blown up in the last six months, despite his kermit the frog ass sounding voice. anyway my initial assumption has definitely proven out. thankfully there are smart people who are paid to think and write about topics like this so that i don't have to, here is the definitive jordan peterson take, which does a handy job of dismantling him while explicitly avoiding doing so through the lens of leftist ideology:

zim I know you liked the article I shared about him on fb, go read it (edit: i see you had no trouble finding it stormicus, well done)
that pretty much said everything I think about him better than I could
except perhaps that he's either historically illiterate or more than likely intellectually dishonest by making a q&a video titled "were the nazis left wing" that was everything but a straight-up "no"
If he's the number 1 selling non-fiction author on amazon for 8 weeks in a row, and if amazon book sales are in any way representative of what the average person is reading, the English-speaking world, at least in the US, is intellectually bankrupt.

of course he'd make that video. i haven't seen it, but i can take a lot of good guesses as to what it covers.
'leftists are the REAL nazis because the actual historical nazis were a leftist party. look, it's even got socialist right there in the name! what else is there to discuss?!' is definitely one of my favorite genres of right-wing commentary
jordan b peterson: dinesh 'convicted felon' d'souza, but with more syllables

These people are filling the void left by Christopher Hitchens, who, if he had been alive, would have fit in well with the Alt-Right folks. And ofcourse, he would have stood alongside the chauvinists who regard #metoo with contempt, since there was nothing in position towards women when he was alive that would suggest otherwise.
All the more reason to regard his pre-mature death as a mercy to his "intellectual legacy". Had he been alive for longer he would have deteriorated further towards reaction, and he would have been regarded in history as a truly contemptible creature.

By the way I recently found out that physicist Lawrence Krauss has also been accused of Sexual Harassment.

Hitchens was an oldschool Marxist and anti-fascist, and he was extremely open about it, I'm sure he would've made great bedfellows with the alt-right His sole moment of sexism IIRC was a tabloid article on why women don't make good comedians. Hardly comparable to Jordan Peterson's thinly-veiled yearning for violence against women to be deemed acceptable again, or conjuring up fantasies like SJW's being literally worse than Hitler.
Krauss' sexual misconduct was apparently well-known for years through word of mouth, though nothing official came of the academic institutions he was at. I always wondered why he migrated from CW to ASU and now things seem to fall in place. Pretty shitty.
edit: huh, apparently there are two sides to every story. Not sure if the claims of him being a perv are true now: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1IgAGpk ... JbJ_5/view
Salon, buzzfeed, and similar tabloids have a history of slandering new atheists as morally reprehensible without evidence to back up their claims. I would not be surprised if this is just another targeted effort.
