death documentary - boring
Is this the one on Prime? I added it to my queue but haven't watched it yet.
I found it interesting because I live in the area I recognized a lot of the filming locations. they even unintentionally gave away Chuck's home address and I was able to drive by the house his parents had here.
plus some great interviews not just with musicians that worked with Chuck and family but Jim of Morrisound and others. it's worth the watch IMO. :santa:

1917, unnecessarily digital I feel. A simple background shouldn't come from a computer. I fear for the worst, directors choosing easy solutions :frown:

alien covenant

silent hill was an acid trip

prometheus was better than covenant but both were lacking in some way

Silent hill is fucking weird and doesn't really tell anything.

Prometheus was ok but it could have been amazing
Gotta see Covenant.

agreed. silent hill seemed like an excuse for special effects which is fine.

prometheus had a lot of potential, i wish they'd expanded more on the engineer race

Exactly. I had high hopes for Ridley Scott but it was kind of a fail :homework: also the acting and script was so lame.

[nerd rant]

why do futuristic movies always have such dumb characters who jeopardize missions? why would they not send a crew full of androids? david-8 is clearly capable of doing anything the human crew needs to carry out.

ALSO, in covenant, they find that earth like planet and decide to send down an expedition, which obviously had horrible consequences. they would totally have the kind of drone technology that could swoop down and survey the entire planet and let them know it was fucked before they ever set foot on land

..but i guess they wouldn't have movies if they did these things :redneck: :homework:

Yeah its so dumb. I just wstched Interstellar and could really enjoy it because its done so well. I think the only space movie where they had realistic physics and audio design (no sound in space, gravity, etc).

Last night I watched The Fugitive (gloryhole era version) and definitely enjoyed it. It was a bit strange that the court proceedings at the beginning were hardly featured, but going that route probably kept the film from being three hours long.

After that I tried to watch what I'm guessing is the newest version Hellrasier on Hulu. I made it two thirds of the way through before jumping ship because there basically wasn't a plot worth following. But there's always the original to revisit :santa:

Castaway - I think the only other time I saw it was when it was in the theaters. They did a pretty good job of keeping it engaging given that hardly anything happens for long stretches of time.

Grandma's Boy - toward the end I realized I had seen this movie years ago. In other words there's nothing very memorable about it, but it does its job as a lazily written stoner comedy.

Watched this super-fucked up film the other day called Speak No Evil. Just a really, really bad time at the movies. If you're into films like Inside and Martyrs, give it a watch. It's feel-really-fucking-bad, and I did it to myself.

The Sixth Sense. Doesn't really hold up for me since I had already seen it and as a result knew how it would end. Plus it was way spookier when I originally saw it in the theaters as a kid. These days as a resident of Minneapolis I see dead people all the time, and I generally assume some form of Bruce Willis is constantly nearby. But on a more serious note Haley Joel Osment's performance for a childhood actor in that type of movie is pretty impressive.

I was a also reminded of a story a fellating lover told me when his family saw it in theaters: apparently very early on in the film his dad loudly blurted out something along the lines of "I bet the Bruce Willis character is actually a ghost or something" and pretty much ruined it for everyone.

I also just watched True Lies because I mistakenly thought it was the movie Eraser. After I realized it wasn't about an hour in I kept watching for lack of anything better to do :bang:
