the next couple of generations
and
another massive asteroid colliding with earth
but i'm willing to be wrong

I'm leaning toward the loss of all land ice in the next 500-1000 years. Huge sea level rise and a fight for the remaining dry land. Society will fall down in a giant display of homosexuality and this will set us back to something primitive

i think it will take far less time than that
if only because it seems every time scientists make a prediction about when some chunk of antarctica or greenland will crack away from the main body, it takes far less time

Some claim things may well be past the point of no return, as in climate having a hysteretic behavior, continuing to change long after the stimulus has been removed.

If an asteroid doesn't get us first, the bugger has it. The consequences of climate change (social unrest, resources fuckery, erratic angry weather) will be what gets us if we luck out of those three.

Now caveat here: that bacteria is not resistant to everything. It is resistant to the last resort antibiotic. But resistance can cross bacterial types, if I recall correctly, and that means every puzzle piece for a post-antibiotic world is on the table.

There was one reported death from bacteria that was resistant to all antibiotics *available in the US*. The prospect of one that's resistant against all known antibiotics is terrifying tho.
Though I think we'll see more strings of deaths of unvaccinated idiots + immunodeficient people thanks to unvaccinated idiots.
