My mother was rushed to the hospital last Sunday because she couldn't breathe. She's always been a heavy smoker but ever since the stepdads accident over 3 years ago she's been smoking 3 packs a day. She doesn't eat and is 86 pounds. Supposed to be around 115. She's had copd for years and a bad cough. She's also had an addiction to OxyContin I just found out about and been obtaining it illegally for her rls and fibromyalgia pain. Her 02 levels when they brought her in were in the mid 60s. My sister who also lives down here called the ambulance for her.

She also has emphazema and pulmonary cachexia. The pulmonologist basically gave her 6 months. Give or take. I'm hoping for a fucking miracle.

This has been the worst week of my life. I've lost 10 pounds since Tuesday and slept maybe 20 hours in 6 days. My aunt flew in from Washington last night to help me out thank god. She and my mother are very close. She was released from the hospital last night and is now on oxygen for the rest of her life.

She is the most important person in my life and my world has been turned upside down once again.

She's been walking around and can even go upstairs where the shower is at. We were worried she wasn't going to be able to. She talks like normal but just with a nasal cannula. Even showered by herself, but had to have to sister help her get dressed. Gets winded and short of breath extremely easy. She's been eating better as well. This is all great but can be reversed if she starts smoking again. She had 2 cigarette Friday night after arguing with me about it. She gave the pack to her sister yesterday who gave it to me and I threw it away.

Then tonight she said she needed a cigarette again. This is going to be a constant struggle.
