so it has rained steadily since at least 5 o' clock this morning

winds are about what you would expect from a rainstorm, nothing more

and i know people are suffering in florida and the caribbean, and i'm sorry for that

but i have to say that up georgia way this hurricane was pretty underwhelming

It was over land for at least 70% of its trip up the Florida peninsula. It lost a lot of power as a result. had it stayed in the gulf and struck Tampa bay or the panhandle it would have remained a much stronger storm as it moved north. We got lucky - I worry that people won't take the next one as seriously as a result.
