Getting homesick
I have no desire to return to WV but I do miss the safety and comfort of having many friends and my only remaining close relative nearby. I miss my cats and my ex-girlfriend. I miss being able to swim in a lake unoccupied by large reptiles.
I am now committed to rebuilding my life in a strange land full of crawling things which could kill me with venom, no friends, no marketable skills, and dwindling funds. I do have one pair of friends letting me stay with them (and their kids) but this shit won't last. I need an exit, pronto. They fight and argue and yell at their kids a lot. Sometimes I want to yell at their kids too but it takes a great deal of restraint.
I found a job maintaining a self-storage facility and renting U-Hauls. It doesn't pay well but it's a start. Apparently, self-storage is a fast growing business here but I don't care. I'd rather own one of these than work 9-5 in one. My boss is a bitchy Maine native who uses a tanning bed way too often, has false teeth, and dumb hair. I only like her because she insisted on showing me the stray kitten she's been feeding behind the complex, where we smoked cigarettes in secrecy (non-smoking facility)
This is hard being lonely is turds.

Re: Getting homesick
how about just working 9-5 in a different job that pays better and you don't hate, rather than extracting the surplus of other people's labor that go through the same misery and likely becoming like the bastard of a boss you have?Holocaust wrote:. I'd rather own one of these than work 9-5 in one.
Anyway I totally get your feels. I miss living close to the ocean, not breathing polluted air and not feeling like any health mishap I have is going to leave me completely bankrupt. But there are things about WV I do like.

Things went sour with the woman and I hated my job (and the lack of alternatives) so I ghosted.zim wrote:you probably mentioned it before by why did you move so far away holicus?

Re: Getting homesick
Spent the past two days mostly on a kayak. I found a new fun thing, and now I want to spend all my time on a boat.
