Anyone ever replace a car stereo speaker

Post by Mesarthim »

Two of mine are blown out and also suffer from a loose wire connection. When the connection fails it's fine but when they are powered it makes listening to music a very miserable experience.

Anyways, how hard is it to replace door speakers in a car? I replaced a side mirror once and that wasn't all that difficult but it didn't require me to take apart the entire door either.

From what I remember it wasn't all that hard to do but this was 10+ years ago

It is quite easy.

Take the door card off, it'll be screwed in with some clips to pop too. The clips are fragile, so take some care popping them from the door. If it is electric windows too, unplug the connector from the wiring loom.

There will probably be some soundproofing on, but this can be cut away, as it is held with some strong sticky foam strips. After pulling the soundproofing back, you should have access to 4 screws holding the speaker in place. Undo them, then the wiring plug will be on the back.

hmmmm....well maybe it's not as big of a deal as I thought. all I know is it's driving me nuts hearing the blown out speakers farting up a storm every time there is some deep bass going on.

Is the speaker easily accessible? Just watch some how to stuffs on youtube and knock it out.
