For a long evening of food and alcohol I actually prefer some nice red or white wine nowadays instead of beer.
You?

I got drunk on champagne once, and I tell you with no uncertainty that it is ill-advised

I like wine a lot. Actually if I had the option that is all I would drink.

If offered, I would partake in it but it is generally something I wouldn't procure for myself.

Well you can't store a half consumed, open bottle of wine in the trunk of your car can you.
But then again it is winter so maybe that might work, yes.

of course you can
either drink it all in one evening or pour it out of the bottle and into a growler or airtight container of your choice
or store it openly in your house like a fucking adult already

Wine is ok. Too much wine on a frequent basis will really fuck you up though.

About ten years ago I went through about a 16 month period of getting drunk off wine every night, which was a mistake. I didn't mess anything up too badly during that period, but for me wine is definitely a less than ideal kind of drunk, and I was always in a foggy state of mind the following morning which made getting anything done nearly impossible.
As far as responsible drinking goes it definitely pairs better than beer does with good food, but I rarely think to order a glass when I'm out eating somewhere nice. And I'm completely in the dark as to what to look for in terms of quality, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.
