of course they should. they are both holidays of peace, love, rebirth, new beginnings, hope, &c &c. it's dumb to have them exactly one week apart. just make new year's a gift-giving holiday and save everyone the stress and hangover of the weird period between the 25th and the 1st. christmas and new year's should be one holiday :judge:

of course they shouldn't. they are completely different things and have nothing to do with each other, it is merely a trick of the calendar that teaches us otherwise. and anyway if we lost christmas as a standalone holiday we would lose one of the best reasons to make fun of overly sensitive christians -- specifically, the hilarious and non-existent "war on christmas." christmas and new year's should be two holidays :judge:
