i had a small workup at the clinic i went to, ekg, blood work, etc. oxygen and pulse were fine, blood pressure was a little high but was around 120/92 by the time i left. i also had strep throat and a week of antibiotics that made me feel really sick. :oldryan:

ekg looked good as well as blood work, no issues on either of those. i have an appointment with a cardiologist next week where i'll probably get a holter monitor and an echocardigram. i'm still having the palpitations, really wish they would stop :homework:

That sucks, but at last you're getting it looked at. I had episodes of palpitations a number of times back when I drank a lot for months on end but would need to stop for one reason or another on short notice. Heart dysfunction of that sort is a condition that is impossible to ignore :oldryan:

i would usually try to tough out whatever was bothering me but i don't want to fuck around when it comes to my heart beating funny, especially with the terrible life style i've been living lately. i was actually surprised that my blood work didn't show any signs of high cholesterol or diabetes to be honest.

I have a physical on Wednesday. First one I've ever gotten. I'm sure my cholesterol is 5 times what it should be. Probably have diabetes too. Not really looking forward to it

one month later

had followup today, two weeks after wearing a heart monitor for a day. doc said the heart monitor recorded my heart jumping from 90-120bpm in the moments i recorded the palpitations, he said this wasn't all that abnormal. he prescribed a beta blocker and zoloft. i feel kind of weird taking an ssri but i have been experiencing worsening anxiety so i'm open to taking it i suppose

conclusion: not dying, experiencing physical symptoms from anxiety

Put the house up for sale 2 weeks ago and loaded the car last night and left this morning. So she can be closer to my sister and her grandson. And with her copd and emphysema, I'm worried I won't see her again. Said she's coming back up when the house here sells and to pack but it took her since Christmas to finally go back down so I have my doubts

I recently had an annual checkup for the first time since 2005. I decided to be as honest as I could about my history with alcohol and it ended with my doctor trying to set me up with a social worker, which was completely unexpected. After I laughed that off she downgraded me from a functional alcoholic to an outright alcoholic in mid-sentence.

I'm not too worried given that I now basically only drink on the weekends, and without issue on a daily basis I probably get more exercise than 95% of the U.S. population. Given the way my lifestyle choices have been gradually drifting I wouldn't be surprised if my drinking days naturally come to an end within the next couple years.
