And so, with the victory of the Fascist-enabler Bolsonaro in Brazil, the "21st Century Socialism" project comes to a crashing end.

This 21st Century Socialism nonsense was a delusion to begin with. I would even argue that *most* of the blame for the Rightwing's sweep across so many parts of the world should be laid at the feet of 21st Century Socialism wherever it has been replaced. Because it disillusioned so many people with false promises.

All that's left now is for Greece's Syriza to be finally voted out (they are behind New Democracy in polls), and for Venezuela's government to be overthrown by the plots against it. And then we will be able to write the epitaph.

Now, no one can deny the plots to overthrow 21st Century Socialist governments. And that was exactly my my issue with them all along. You can't do what they say that want to do without the monopolization of force and the means to plan the economics at the national level. If you really want to genuinely implement Leftwing initiatives, what you really need is a dictatorship to do that. Otherwise all reforms are fleeting. Even Sweden and Norway are losing their Leftist social reforms. History taught us this before, and now teaches us here, again. Just can't do it otherwise.

21st Century Socialism's only lasting impact after a few years of government, now that all of its reforms are being reversed by the rightwing governments taking over, has been to mislead people on what Socialism really is, what it can really give them, and how to get there. It has utterly failed where conventional Marxism succeeded, on the subject of *power*.

The damage that 21st Century Socialism has done to the word Socialism is considerable. A generation of people now know of Socialism as only a project of failed promises.

So the biggest favor you can do yourself, if you're a lefty and wondering what the fuck happened in Brazil, why so many Left governments are being replaced by Right governments, is to abandon your college/internet Leftism and read some fuckin Marx and Engels. Read Lenin, Stalin and Mao.

vice squad is raiding universities and seizing pro-democracy and anti-fascist materials and hassling professors. This is the beginning of the end.
