i have done this thing several times

don't really know that it's ever added much flavor but getting to drink the rest of the beer while the food cooks is nice

Never done this but I have tasted some ‘beer’ dishes and all of them were fantastic. However, I’m not sure if that’s because of the beer or the other ingredients.

Yes. Especially in stews. Works great with the right darker beers. Westmallen, Gulden Draak, etc.
