There are a lot of conspiracy theory videos (ie. Alex Jones shit) pressing the idea that this is a man made virus they are testing on us. Hah. After watching all of these videos, I just do not see any real indication that this is a man-made, genetically-altered strain of influenza. The premise for this notion seems to be founded in the fact that the US cases have not had any pig contact -- that they were spread from human to human.

Swine flu is caused by influenza A subtypes H1N1, H1N2, H2N3, H3N1, and H3N2. H3N2 is the subtype that has the human, avian and swine lineages. Zoonosis, the spread of a virus from one species to another, is the way swine flu is typically in contracted by people. The reassortment from zoonosis to human-to-human spread is genetically feasible without any conspiratorial human intervention (ie. in a lab) because swine flu is an orthomyxoviridae, thus its genome is packaged in 8 pieces.

Anyway, this isn't like mad cow. This is just a particularly nasty flu strain. AND, by the way, anyone who loves them some bacon or other pork products should know that this virus cannot be spread through food. You will not catch it from eating of a pig that had it. this is good because I do love me some fucking bacon.
