False door opening etiquette

People think that they're being polite if they go through a door first to keep it open long enough for you to come through. But sometimes people are far away from the door that's been kept open for them, thereby compelling them to rush towards the door so that the individual holding it open does not have to leave it open for long.

This is false etiquette and it must be cast down.

There's also that parking lot etiquette or false etiquette you speak of. Once I was crossing the crosswalk at popular grocery/clothing store and some weird lady felt I was being rude because I didnt speed up and cross in a timely manner.

I find it's good to keep other people's agendas in mind on a daily basis. Sometimes it's the small things that end up making the deepest impact on a person's day. On the other hand it's not a great idea to put yourself in harm's way just so someone else can have an easier life. It really just depends on the situation.
