starting to notice a light ringing in my ears whenever it's otherwise quiet. signs of tinnitus perhaps

hearing loss is common on my father's side of the family and i have always been assiduous with earplug use to try and get out ahead of it. the last couple of years i've been slacking off, it is time to rejoin the fight

I tend to listen to my music loud but never on full blast - whether that's headphones or stereo.
I used to not, but for the last 15 years or so I've always made sure to wear earplugs to concerts. occasionally I've forgotten and paid for it for sure.
I went to an audiologist because I wasn't having trouble hearing higher frequency noises like crickets, some birds and women. I'll miss the birds and crickets.

I can't really tell if I have hearing loss. I can hear kind of a faint static noise when things are quiet, but it never seems to keep me from hearing anything else. I generally listen to things at a pretty low volume.

The only thing that has me somewhat concerned is that I catch myself talking inappropriately loud sometimes, but I think that might have more to do with having to talk pretty loud while on the dock at work. That's often because we're talking while moving a ways apart from one another, but not far enough to have to shout. And my only real concern is about bothering people.

i have bad hearing, i blame all the metal in my teen years. i used to blast at full for hours at a time, just below painful level. i started wearing earplugs to shows and went to way less shows in my mid-20s but the damage was already done. i have tinnitus, but it rarely effects me. it hits me more when i have been listening to music loud on the earphones, which i usually do when i have been out drinking and i am walking home alone
