We had one dude in PG county (that's prince George's county for you non Maryland folks) who basically told the governor fuck you I'm gonna do it anyway. That's been the only one to make headlines, I'm sure there's quite a few more doing it more discreetly. The one I live by thankfully is doing online otherwise I'd have probably lost my shit and went up there and yelled at everyone.zim wrote:this keeps happening in kentucky as wellNick wrote:Someone's gotta grow some balls and shut down the fucking churches. Not teaching anymore, started a cleaning company. They've got a little business coming in, it's a day to day thing on if there's any work at the moment. They had just hit a point before this to start hiring some part time people so they could take on more clients.

Re: coronavirus in this region
They're currently taking volunteers at my place to stay home, and in some cases calling people off. I'm just assuming that the part-timers will eventually get starved out and everyone else's hours will be cut, so for now I'm sticking with about 35 hours per week. The weather still sucks and everything is closed, so why not.
Once all the weather related shutdowns in the Midwest get sorted out and the seasonal agriculture freight is done with I'm guessing things will really tank. If it comes down to it I probably wouldn't take a severance package at this point, but some older co-workers definitely would for good reason. I'm pretty sure they've never outright laid anyone off for lack of work. I know they didn't in '08.

Duterte is expected to announce this week if we will have to extend our community quarantine or not. I’m assuming it will (and should be) extended as the curve isn’t flattening anytime soon.

And yet they’re still fucking open here. Some have closed voluntarily but quite a few have not.

$2000 for a one way ticket
Going forward I think I'm going to just work six hours per night. Losing ten hours of pay for the next month will suck, but I'm getting really sick of taking an unpaid 30 minute lunch period only to punch back in to work another 25 minutes. It isn't worth it unless I have errands to run, which I usually don't.
