Nothing complex, just some text and pictures. It should be cheap and easy because I'm cheap and lazy.

Wordpress.com has basic open source things.
Wordpress.org is more complex and yoy need to design and code more.

AFAIK... there are some other tools too.

check out https://www.squarespace.com/ they have some really cheap options that look good. https://www.wix.com/ or https://ghost.org/ are good options too

so many CMS options these days. we've come a long way from geocities. but then people still find CMS complicated and just do FB pages instead

i miss the days of low tech / simple html websites with nothing but text, links, and sparse images. every website now has to look borderline corporate.
