I'd imagine there is not much current in an LCD display in a "thin and light" notebook such as the MacBook Air. Even the backlight is probably low power.

Mac's are simply overpriced PC x86 hardware running a dumbed down version of BSD Unix with their own gay man's telescope manager and dense clouds of latte-scented smug.

No offense, Vahmpy. I do not think you are like most Mac users in the Cult of Jobs.

Two or three years ago I did a comparison.

Toshiba and Macbook pro both with the same specs, but the Toshiba had a slightly different resolution and Xp pro obviously. Both 17" screens. Toshiba = $1400 Macbook = $3000

This made my day, as I just got fucked on an important presentation because someone's macbook air wouldn't load my powerpoint correctly. I would love to destroy one of those computers.

But anyway, as a fellating lover of mine (who's a business major) pointed out, it shows you how easy it is to market some things.

fuck those trying-to-be-hip-with-their-little-macs fanboys :fuckoff:

i use it for school/music recording. It's a very nice thing to have with me to make notes, do my homework on (which is recording or editing music most of the time) and do quick recordings with at studio's or rehearsal rooms. It's just much more stable than a laptop running Wind0ws. For creativity use (and especially workflow), I think Macs work better yet I agree that they are very overpriced. I still love using our PC we have next to my Mac.

Depends on your version of Windows I suppose. This 64 bit Vista Home Premium laptop I'm on has not crashed yet in the 2 and a half months I've had it. But my old 98 and XP systems crashed like a bitch... second but: I was always tweaking and fucking with resource files in those. Before that, I had Windows For Workgroups 3.11 on top of MSDOS 6.22 and that was stable as fuck. I also love me some Ubuntu GNU/Linux and FreeBSD.

The difference is in the OS, I believe. Macs just don't crash as often as PCs do, and that's a big deal in the studio.

Macs are PCs. You mean OS-X does not crash as much as Windows.

I've never had a Windows machine tank on me during recording (or mixing for that matter). The OS X kernel is more stable than the NT kernel anything XP and up uses, but this is because OS-X's kernel is BSD Unix. That shit's been stable since the 70s. Sure, OS-X is alright, relatively stable and made to be way too user friendly. But for the purpose mentioned, audio production, I've seen absolutely no advantage over using a (stable -- remember, it is different version to version) Windows or Linux machine for production.

iunno. all i know is whenever ive used ProTools in Windows it runs slow and takes forever to process effects. The hardware specs on the Macs were actually worse than the PCs. again this is just my experience and when using ProTools, which is the standard for pro audio.

Anything that is available for mac is available for PC.

Theres torrents for hacked scrapple programs for pc, but there's always a superior program exclusively for pc, so I don't see why you would want them.

I can't argue a point about ProTools since I have not used it; but yes, it is the standard for digital audio production. However there are far too many variables to take into account, the three main being the hardware specs, which version of Windows, and what else was running on either system.

I use cheapy free stuff like Kristal Audio Engine, FL Studio 8's free demo, and Audacity.

I don't do really any audio work minus removing stupid intros or epilogues from songs, but I use Adobe Audition.
