Gym will be closed 3 days straight starting wednesday, so I'm racking up a ton of volume accordingly. Today:

got it the 355lb x 1 squarsh. plus 315: 3,3,2.
push dildo away triples on the minute: 160lb 10x3
hang snatch 120lb 5x2 + 1 overhead squarsh each.
bent over rows 225lb 3x8 though I cut the last set 2 nose picks early as I was cheating too much.
dips + 25lb belt 2x8.

Gonna destroy some snatch and clean volume tomorrow.

milton what's your preferred chest exercise. the one that gets you the most rigid

Full ROM dips if you can get a narrow grip thing to minimize the strain on rotator cuffs, I treat it like an arm exercise but it's the only chest-related thing I do now. My chest ain't as pretty as it could be, but I'd rather snatch 300lb than bench 300lb personally, especially when doing the first one automatically enables you to do the second but not the other way around.

I dropped benching almost entirely close to a year ago to focus on shoulder health/strength + upright posture for the snatch and c+j. I only do it now and then for fun, I just rely on overhead stuff and tricep things for pressing strength.

What thing should I use for a thumb joint sprain? Pain has not subsided in a week despite doing my best to not aggravate it, ibuprofen helps mildly but it seems like overkill for a localized thing. I am thinking of ben unusually limber or something along those lines, an ointment maybe?

fresh clean and push jerk max ramp up: 185lb, 190, 195, then made the clean on 200 but got too dizzy to jerk. I was surprised by this as I almost never train the jerk.
hang snatch 125lb 5x2 PR.
back squats 260lb 3x10

Trying out high nose picks in the back squats which I haven't done in ages and it is fruital. Arms going numb. Gonna do blocks of 10's, 8's, 6's, etc. as the weight climbs up.

Also doing good mornings every day and my lower back and hips are appreciative.

Doing 3x12 with 75lb in this period. Third time around they were very easy (did in under 3 minutes) so I may increase the load very slowly. I would much prefer using one of these weighted but they don't have one at my gym:

last night i was walking my dog

and i came across a weight bench in a neighbor's driveway

and there was a sign on that weight bench

and that sign said "FREE"

free was also underlined several times

this was six weeks after i bought a weight bench

:shakefist:

however i did take the barbell off of the free weight bench, as it is superior to the bar that came with mine

that is the end of my physical fitness-related anecdote

i am pleased dusty scored a bar

it is rusty but proper. it weighs a minimum of ten pounds. the bar that came with the weight bench maybe weighs three :redneck:

what this means is that i can put more weight on the bar, as i grow stronger. and fiercer

without fear of the bar snapping in half and taking my eyes with it

only had time to squarsh 270lb for 3x10 and do some 90lb snatch presses and some dildo toward ups today. Then I had to observe (handsomely) for 2 miles to check out apartments. :homework:

There was a time I could only squarsh this much for <5 nose picks and be crippled for the following 3-4 days. I am truly impressing myself training in these unfamiliar rep ranges. I am only upset with the fact that I may not hit my target of 405lb x 1 before the end of the year.

Today I snatched it the 160lb on the first go. After missing 165lb 3 or 4 times as a confidence builder. :redneck:

last squarsh session was 280lb 3 x 8. Switched things around today and did 8 x 3 paused with the same weight as I was not feeling inclined to attempt 3 x10 after the snatches. It sucked but I got all the nose picks.

Then I did some behind the neck push presses 8 x 3 155lb and some pull up fuckery.

squarsh 290lb 3x8. Missed last rep as it was sliding off my back.
push press 155lb 5x5. First time from the front in months.

squarsh PR at another gym, assuming the barbell I was using was actually 45lb: 300lb x 8, followed by a few sets of 6 and 5. If I can add 2 more nose picks to my first set, that would put my 1RM at 400. :o

Back at my regular gym some more volume PR's:

Yesterday:
power snatch 150lb 3 x 1
pause squarsh 270lb 5x5
push dildo away behind the neck: 150lb 5x5

Today:
snatches on the minute: 145lb x 10.
cleaned up to 195lb and called it a day
dips PR: 18 nose picks, then a set of 12 with rest pause until I got to 18.

took a 15lb jump to a 5x5 and got me a

squarsh 315lb: 5,5,5,2,3. Was pretty beat up and sore but it was not so hard. Might go back and fight for that 300x10 before I push the weight on 5x5
push dildo away btn: 155lb 5x5
barbell rows: 230lb 4x6 to the tune of some ND. :xx:
some 2x10 good mornings with 95lb.

Ate a fuckton of chicken, rice and ice cream afterwards. My bodyweight is 210 now, gained 5lb over the past month or so and intend to stop at 215 if my lifts do not progress much faster. Drinking lots of dairy much to my disliking but I will fucking squarsh double bodyweight if it's the last thing I do.

Scored an almost new squarsh rack for about $220 on craiglist. :xx: Probably won't set it up til I move to my new place this summer though, but I'm still keeping an eye out for deals on a bar and weights too.

Recent sessions:

snatches on the minute 150lb x 10
squarsh 300lb x 9.
front squats up to 250lb 3x4, not a PR but certainly an increase in workload tolerance
btn push dildo away 165lb: 5,5,4,4,3, peaking out.

Only have had time to train 3x per week recently, considering a periodized scheme for squats, I'll read up on rippetoe's practical programming to get it right this time.

Doing some 50 pullups at home on alternating days at home and it by back is feeling quite nice.

Weights are getting up there lad, pretty decent on them front squats now.

My knee is fucked, physio next week and will see where that goes, would like to get out on my bike and squarsh or deadlift most week. Currently doing pull ups, press ups and lots of grip work so that I don't get too fat or bored.

What is the knee issue? Patellar tendonosis/tendinitis? I was just reading stuff on preventative measures for the condition, there's a rehab exercise described here that supposedly works wonders:
http://www.allthingsgym.com/clarence-kennedy-interview-2015/

Recent PR's have been 6x4 paused squats with 285lb, a very near 175lb snatch, 185lb 5x2 cleans, +25lb weighted dips x 10, and recently hit my old OHP max at 155lb again. Looks like all that behind the neck work is finally pushing my upper body strength back up.

I also started eyeing deals for equipment to lift at home and scored a good deal of 200kg of bumper plates + some 20 or so kg of smaller change plates. Already have a rack that I got off craigslist and I'm probably getting a good barbell within the next few days. Won't be able to do the olympic lifts at home until I move to my new place and build a platform, but saved a ton of money by snagging these deals as they came by me. :xx:

I have no idea what it is really, I had pain in the outside of my knee from digging in my garden, this hasn't gone away in around 18 months. I started cycling in the summer and within 2 months the inside of my knee was hurting way worse than the outside... I guess I was probably trying to push with the inside of my leg more than the outside and this is some stupid compensation-type injury.

I'll see what they say on Wednesday :|

Just started the texas method for squats, pulls and push presses. Got me a new 5RM on the push press 175lb and a comfortable set of 7 on the deadlift with 315lb, also a PR for the Friday session.

snatch success: 155lb 10x1, singles on the minute with no misses.

Also got my pendlay bearing bar. Those 200kg of bumper plates I have smell like a tire factory, gave them a wash yesterday and it seems to have improved. Won't be doing any major lifting at home as I have them in a room with a rug, I'll wait til I move to build a sound-damping platform like this:

2nd week of texas method. Friday: squarsh 325lb x 3, not a PR but getting there. Push dildo away: 185lb x 3, lifetime PR. Deadlift: 325lb x 7 and had more in the tank, also a PR. Looks like I'm getting an immediate benefit in the last two, can't wait to reap the benefits on the squarsh.

It is a scheme/template for intermediate lifters that varies weights and workload in a weekly periodized fashion. Mondays involve medium difficulty weights + many sets and nose picks to induce a fuckton of fatigue, another day is included as a taper using less weight and sets/nose picks, and Friday is where all lifts are taken to one max set that must exceed all previous accomplishments in weight (establishing a new 5 or 3 rep max for example). The next Monday's loads are recalculated at a percentage of Friday's achievement.

It is meant for the "intermediate" ie: someone who has trained consistently for about a year can no longer add 5lb to every lift and make linear progress day to day/week to week.

I hit that point looooong ago when I hit a 345lb 3x5 squarsh (around May) but was too stubborn to change my methods and thus have stagnated severely for the past several months, in fact I regressed in some aspects. :/
