What was Steve's statement regarding his departure again? I understood the reasons where 'external', not lacking band profesionalism or stuff like that.
I agree that Trey has withdrawn out of the press very quickly and has David taken the heat oversince. Trey has failed experimenting musically but with his father dying and now this news, it's my impression that he has regained creative interest in eerie death metal, simular to the situation with Gregor Mackintosh leading up to Vallenfyre.
I've learned that the collaboration between Steve & Trey has been ging on for a little more than 6 months now.
David's moving to Austin has maybe let him overlooking an email or Trey was so caught up in the creative process with Steve that he forgot about notifying David (or he held him back in reserve just in case it didn't pan out with Steve) either way with this statement, David's out since it's Trey's band. The way this is handled though, is backstabbingly ugly.
With Dave returning to MA in 2005, he has kept the band from falling apart. It seems that Trey has taken matters into his own hands now, simular to the FFttF era.
Only now without Pete. Who will fill the drummer spot is interesting. Mike Smith maybe? Maybe even a guest spot for Mike Browning on a AOD kinda song? Demon Seed is still not reused..
And also if Thor wil be maintained or replaced as well with someone with better leadplaying skills? Maybe it's time for Wojtek Lisicki to do another audition in the near future.
Trey's post 17 hours ago:
"wow thanx so much for the positive replies already!
Im really stoked about all this.
My heart has always been in the underworld and freaky art and all those kinda cool things. Even if no one liked this idea I was still going to do it cause thats the kinda freaky artist I am

This interview has some statements regarding his departure. He seemed pretty fed up with it all.
Former MORBID ANGEL singer/bassist Steve Tucker was recently interviewed by Metal1.info in regards to his decision to leave the band and what his plans for the future are.
Metal1.info: Hello Steve, thanks a lot for taking your time to answer our interview with metal1.info.
Steve Tucker: “Not a problem....”
Some days ago, the official Morbid Angel web site reported, that the band parted ways with you as the singer and bassist of the group. Can you give us some background information on that and why this decision was made?
“I didn't feel that I wanted to be a part of Morbid Angel any longer. There were some issues I had with people's commitment and desire. I play from the heart and could never do anything that wasn't 100% real to me. So I felt it was time to go do something else.”
Your statement on the web site was really sympathetic, I think. Which things will you miss mostly?
“Like I said in the statement, I will miss the fans, that is what I missed last time I left and they are the reason I came back and gave it another shot.”
What were the three most important things the band brought to you?
“I don't know really, that is hard to say, because for everything it gave to me, it took something from me. I committed almost 8 years to this band. 8 Years that are gone and can never be regained. I met a lot of cool people. I was able to see a large part of the world. And I had some great shows!! But at the same time, I dealt with a lot of shit that I wouldn't have had to deal with had it been my own band.... So this is a hard question.”
The former singer and bassist David Vincent was hired to play four gigs in South America . What do you think of his short rejoin?
“I think it was bound to happen really, I think it is what Morbid Angel should do, a reunion !! I think it would be the best thing for the M.A. legacy. But I am sure they will do whatever they feel is best, though it may not actually be so. Trey has a very twisted sense of reality..”
Would you tell us what you think about the person David Vincent? Lots of people think he is an asshole because of his national socialistic conviction.
“I have no personal problems with David, we have met many times and he has always been very cool to me, his wife Gen as well, the two of them have never had anything but good things to say to me. And me to them as well. As far as his political views, that is his business. I truly wonder how much of that is gimmick, check the facts, he is very image oriented. That is not an insult; it is just based on facts.”
Can you tell us something about the regenerated death Morbid Angel singer? There is no serious information given, yet.
“Man, I have no idea what they are going to do. That is the Truth.”
Is there a singer you would prefer to join the band?
“Like I said, I think they should do a reunion tour. I don't know about another CD, I think David and Morbid are worlds from each other musically at this point. But maybe after some touring that will change.”
What do you know about the rest of Morbid Angel – how long do you expect the band to keep run?
“I don't know. I know there are reasons for them to stop and reasons for them to continue. They are not young guys at all, but then again, I think there is no one in the world to match Pete. So I think that is up to them and their desire.”
What are your plans for the following weeks? Will you step into another project or even form a regenerated death one with you as the singer?
“For now, I think I will step away from Death Metal for awhile, I have no desire to have stuff that I do compared to Morbid ,so some time is necessary to let peoples minds clear. I am finishing work on a CD for my other band, I have been calling it Shaank, but that may change. This is a more dynamic heavy music. Aggressive, but not Death Metal. It is all about emotion, not just anger, but there is definitely anger in it. It draws from other influences I had growing up. It is not Nu metal or anything like that, I have a hard time describing it really...
But later, I think I will work with some of the people in Death Metal that I really admire and do some more stuff. For now it is just going to be Shaank, I will do some production stuff and possibly some management stuff. My plate is very full actually...”
What are your favourite Morbid Angel records?
“Gateways, Covenant.....”
If you had the chance to sing for a re-release of an Morbid Angel album with Vincent as the singer – which would it be?
“I wouldn't. He did a great job and there is no need to change it.”
Concerning the last record, Heretic, many people said, more “full” songs would have been better than about 70 “tracks” with drum checks, licks and so. What's your opinion?
“I agree with them actually. And I think the production is shit!! There are some great songs that are ruined by the shit production. This was all out of my hands really. Trey thinks the production is the best Morbid Ever sounded. Opinions, man. Everyone has them.”
What do you think of the Death Metal fans? On the road you can see lots of older fans wearing Carcass-, Morbid Angel- or Corpse-Shirts for example. And there are also the young fans at the age of about 20. Which reactions do you get from your fans? Do they expect more than in the early 90's?
“I think Death Metal fans are brilliant!! Loyal until the end. Again I thank everyone for their support!! And Yes, I do think they expect more, the shock value is gone now, in the early 90's people were just blown away. Now there is so much truly extreme stuff out there that nothing is really very shocking. But now I think it is much more important to play what is honest to you. The fans definitely can feel what is real.”
After the Gateways… you parted ways with the band for the first time. Was your appearance on the Heretic planned or did you just fill the missing part?
“It wasn't planned at all. There were some serious issues that were dealt with before I came back. A lot of these issues returned to rear their ugly head again though. Sometimes people just cannot see eye to eye. But that is life man, you just go on until you find what makes you comfortable. I enjoyed my time playing in Morbid Angel, due to the fans. I am glad it happened.”
As previously reported, GENITORTURE's Evil D (former Morbid Angel frontman David Vincent) has been asked to cover four shows that Morbid Angel had to reschedule due to the unexpected last minute departure of Steve Tucker. He has agreed to play four shows in South America and for now that is the only thing that he has committed to doing with the band. His "status" with Genitorturers is unchanged and he is currently in the studio working on the regenerated death Genitorturers album.
