Whatever happened with Trey and Death Metal?

Post by Spirits of the Deep Waters »

I mean, like back in the altars of madness/blessed are the sick-days he was talking about bands like carcass, suffocation, confessor, nocturnus, terrorizer and all that stuff. And then in the covenant/domination era he was like "Nah, I´m not into other death metal bands" and stuff like that. And then with Formulas he was like "Yeah I like" Angelcorpse, Nile, Old Deicide, Vader. Whats up nowdays? Is he ever mentioning other death metal bands or is he 100% possessed by that whole astro-x stuff n' HARDCORE TECHNO or whatever.

I haven't heard him mention anything other than techno lately. He probably just doesn't care about any other death metal than his own.

Metal Rules interview 2003:

Did you ever listen to Cannibal Corpse and Deicide when the 3 of you were coming out of Florida together?I think they're all really good at what they do. Just like Hate Eternal and Nile. I think those guys rock in their field but when I listen to that stuff…I don't know. Maybe I'm in a different world…well I am in a different world (laughs) but I don't find myself listening to it all that much, not that I think that it's bad. It's just not my thing or my preference

I think its perfectly reasonable, he's been playing his own material and touring with other death metal bands for over 2 decades, if he listened to it every day he'd probably burn out.

If he listens to other music genres rather than Death Metal, it is not a problem to me if he continues to make great riffs and Morbid Angel still releasing great albums.

Everything's fine by me as long as Trey doesn't mellow up and still chooses for the extreme. He says it's gonna be out of the box so I have good faith in the next effort.

Hey Maze, what were the very first songs or bands that you liked when you were a kid? Did you always, 100% surely listened to JUST death metal and metal in general?

Actually; Yes. I'm 17 now, I discovered Morbid Angel as the first death metal band when I was 11 and since then they've been my favourite band. I got into bands like Suffocation, Incantation, Immolation, Deicide, Vader, Nile etc.

Still blasting the same albums 6 years later :gay:. Classical music is the only genre besides Metal.
