not surprising at all. asperger's and autism spectrum disorder are way more common than people think.

it is interesting, goes into a bit of detail. interviewer is like "i have actually interviewed every member of the band except trey" - unstated, so now i am interviewing his mum instead :redneck:

ive always wondered if it was david pushing trey in the wrong direction with that album. i remember when live recordings of nevermore surfaced and out sounded like heretic.

I'm still seething everytime I think of the I album 😂

Illud just sounds fucking lame fullstop. The techno elements present were executed in a really tame and bland way, maybe it worked for Rob Zombie and whoever else in 1990something, but it sounds dated and cheesy as fuck. Electronic elements could have been done so much heavier and in a less obvious (crappy 4/4 dance beat etc), tasteful manner. They clearly just didn't have the skills to do it right. The more straight up death metal songs penned by Thor were just about 'okay', but not really of Morbid Angel's past standard. Absolutely forgettable infact and do nothing to save the album from the more detracting parts elements.

David Vincent's corny vocals and horrid lyrics are just the cherry on top, making the album even more of a bad joke. Really atrocious. What a cartoon character. Illud really couldn't have been worse imo. I'm a really mediocre guitar player and I am fully confident I could mix real death metal with real dark electronic stuff and it sound way more original than this shit heap of a release.

I've actually met Trey in person. He was totally cool, nothing seemed different or off about him. I've also seen pretty much every interview there is of him and I never really got any autistic vibes. Just an interesting person who likes outer space stuff, old video games & sailor moon. Kind of nerdy but that just makes him interesting.

Yeah they kept asking him about Illud and David Vincent after Trey said he didn't want to talk about it anymore. So at one point Trey basically said that since they asked him a "silly" question he will give them a "silly" answer. Then he started singing: momma's little baby loves shortnin' bread.

she obviously loves her boy and thinks he is a musical genius but it has helped her with the challenges raising him and dealing with his personality etc. to put him in the aspergers box, who knows the rest

Same here. My band opened for MA in 1999, so I got to hang out with him for a while backstage. We talked about our 7-string guitars, classical music (He's a Mozart fan)--lots of things. He always made eye contact with me, and I would never have guessed he had AS. While we were doing our soundcheck, I heard him call my name, and he asked me to play his Universe through my rig so he could hear the difference between our 7-string guitars!

That's awesome. I met him during the 2013 Covenant Anniversary tour in November in San Francisco. He was hanging out by the bus having a cigarette. Myself and a few other fans went up and talked to him, he was very humble and respectful. When the other fans walked away I stayed and talked with him for a few more minutes, we talked about his old myspace page from way back in the day that I chatted with him on previously a few times. He asked what my name was on Myspace, I told him but I could tell he probably didn't remember. We talked about Doom, because I played his chambers of dis Doom mod, and we also talked about how he likes to have the PSX Doom Hangar music playing while the band changes guitars on stage, and yes it's really the PS1/PSX version of the Doom Hangar theme. I tried to get a picture with him but it was dark outside by then, and the flash on my camera wasnt working, so it was a shitty picture. He said "oh well maybe next time" unfortunately there was no next time. Even though I've seen them several times since then I havent had another chance to talk to him, other than a quick hi while he was walking past me last year on the Decibel tour but he looked like he was too busy to talk again. Usually I get to shows early when the road crew is carrying gear in. That's the best time to meet band members.

I mean no disrespect but asperger’s is now just HFA. It’s been changed to help with confusion but lots still have the diagnosis and want to say thats what they have. Its really just semantics its all autism and all a spectrum. Most of us with HFA/asperger’s you wouldn’t know unless we told you but it does explain a lot once you find out.
