The music is alright but the production just sucks all life from it. Some songs sound too short. Too many classic interludes. May as well listen to Immolation's Dawn of Possession which came out the same year; and yes I hear "azagthothian organic flow" on all the rest of the albums but this album I just don't get. Maybe Fall from Grace, Brainstorm, Thy kingdom come and Unholy Blasphemies are good songs I like to hear once in a while though.

I got Abominations of Desolation and Entangled in Chaos for this Christmas.

Entangled is damn good. Never really got into Sworn to the black on the Covenant version but this live recording really grabs you by the balls and demands you to join it on it's groove train. Oh yeah and Dominate sounds fucking perfect !

Man, I cant fucking stand Vicent´s voice in this record. Its louder than necessary and has a hoarse aspect I dislike.

I agree on the songwriting being stellar but as I said earlier the prodution doenst do the justice to such a great work.

Liking music because of better production is idiotic. I dont know who's production was better but the riffs in blessed and how the whole song flows, Trey probably did a lot work on blessed songs. I like each and every track on BATS but the same dosent goes with heretic some tracks are fucking great others are like domination some riffs are pretty good but the whole song is not in that flow... the organic azagthothian flow i must say again. :xx:

Production affects the whole listener´s experience, There is one thing called perception, mine is obviously than yours. I dont care.

Heretic is much more raw which fit the songs better, Blessed has a fucking WEAK, lifeless and almost fake sound.

Gotta agree with Zambon here. There's two components to an album: music and the production, and the two must compliment each other according to the listeners paradigm or particular aesthetic (something that "fits" for that individual).

To me Blessed production is the most uninteresting production MA have in my opinion. It needed big crunchy, up front guitars production in order for it to "work" for my ears and to fit the music I'm listening to. Gateways type would have worked, hell even formulas type would also, but to a lesser extent.

Heretic is more up my street musically anyway. I like the more modernized off-kilter swinging riffs Trey did but somehow remaining an old school percussive backbone. This "busy" weird music called for a weird production, and so it has one. Gateways slower album excelled in good solid, slow, brooding songs, so a weak production wouldn't have worked, so it has a big crunchy one to let the music shine.

But, if Blessed works for others, all the more power to ya. The world is just that more interesting for me :greenie:

Thats my point, I feel like my poor english didnt let me explain in such a clear explanation.

Better production is subjective. And thats not necessary a clean production. Its just a whole unit that allows the listener to have a full concection with the music.

There is nothing to be discussed here anymore. Its only a matter of different tastes :santa:

Yeah it's better than Domination. I'm getting into the sort of Gothic doomish nightmarish atmosphere a little here. Got me some good headphones on playing it rather loud, bassy thick and with clear tones :grimxx: .

When I think about it, Fall from Grace is so unique in their catalogue. There's no other song like it they've done. It's also like a blueprint for the "epic" style death metal song writing that bands like Nile continually do these days. The rest of the album really flows and is enjoyable, but I prefer to listen to it while I'm doing something. However I can never be arsed to listen passed Unholy blasphemies for some reason.

So anyway I think my order looks something like this:

G,H,A,F,C,B,I,D. Yeah that's right formulas now beats Covenant instead of joint 4th :xx: . Also Heretic just had to push ahead of Altars in the end, while D just gets worse on each listen. I can see B actually passing ahead of C maybe some point in the future too. :fonz:

Who knows how the fuck IDI will stand a few years down the line :shakefist:

I'm afraid so at this present time, but only by a whisker. They are kind of brother and sister albums. But where as domination ends with Hatework which I find incredibly boring, Illud ends with Mae culpa which is slightly redeemable in a sense for what the industrial element is trying to bring.

I have no order in particular, right now i am enjoying Heretic the most, i enjoy all albums equally till heretic maybe illud too in future, domination vocals create some problem sometimes.

Heretic probably, Trey achieved the most weird lovecraftian riffs which creates a horrifying unknown atmosphere. Every album has its specialty just found heretic's :greenie:

F - master work

C - ultra classic

H - underrated album

The REAL Comeback Album is Illud Divinum and it sucks because of techno and non typical Morbid Angel Style. Although "10 More Dead" rocks because of that Denish groove.
