DEATH metal? ... I must go for Hate Eternal. Other than that, there's not much else in death metal that's really inventive... I hope Behemoth's new album will be good. But other than that, I just listen to all the stuff that's been around for ages, or other new albums coming out by non death metal bands.

I'm wondering if Nile is on the brink of some serious stagnation. I loved Ithylphallic but what could be next that wouldn't be rehashing?

If you're into the tech/fruital or prog type of stuff you'll find a lot of entertaining bands but if you think it's all wank or it sucks because it doesn't sound like Entombed or MA did in '89, then you're not going to find anything you really fancy. Then there's a ton of bands that live on past glories by putting out rehashes of the same old classics and modern bands that imitate the old(some are very good though, just not original, Hooded Menace and Death Breath are great).

Bands that are still putting out very good stuff: Mithras, Portal, Nile(fuck you), Hate Eternal(fuck you again, yes). Lots of good debuting tech/prog bands too but I'm not listening to them as much atm.

Bands that were good up until the last album or 2: Arsis, Gojira, Suffocation, Behemoth, Emeth, Sotajumala, Decapitated, Hour of Penance, Psycroptic(I haven't given the last one much of a listen though).

As for the br00tlz type of dm I only really care about 4 bands, which don't really put out albums on a consistent basis.

I really hope that DECAPITATED will record some more stuff! Their last album was absolutely insane!

The second band split-up few years ago and they were called YATTERING, their "Murder's Concept" was miles away from the rest of death metal scene at the moment in brutality, sickness and perfection. Well, but this times passed...

I hope MA will release the album of the year and I will be the most interesting phenomenon in today's dm scene. Well, we'll see about that :krinor:

I would have mentioned them too but I don't think anything they've done in the past 8-9 years can really be called death metal.

Deeds Of Flesh. They put out a decent DM record in Of Whats To Come. There are some breakdowns in a few songs but I don't mind. I listened to the title track everyday for a couple of weeks and thats just one of the songs. There are eight other tracks too.

I'm wondering if Nile is on the brink of some serious stagnation. I loved Ithylphallic but what could be next that wouldn't be rehashing?

Karl Sanders says the CD will likely be NILE's most eclectic offering to date. "We're going to some very unexpected places," he said. "I've been listening to some oud music [the oud is a Middle Eastern lute — Ed.], Iranian music, and some Hindu stuff, and that stuff's definitely rubbing off on the new songs."

Recently, I hear the new bands of Death Metal that played an old-school sound of Death Metal, my kind of sound of course. I hear mostly Dead Congregation, Necrovation and Repugnant. The first that have made an infernal satanic blasphemic album in my opinion, and the two others that played the swedish death metal sound, the good one! Repugnant's Epitome of Darkness is one fuckin' awesome album and the vocals seem to me very similar with Angelripper of Sodom.

trying to think of a DM band that recently made my ears prick-up with a ""stroke me, for i wish to orgasm" interesting"......

if anything, Blotted Science, but that's more 'uber-heavy-tech', than death metal I guess seeing there's no vocals..? yeah?
