Baroness
Ive just gotten addicted to this band. This song has been stuck in my head for days and the one album they have is also excellent. It is definitely something that rewards patience as on first listen it may seem too chaotic. For fans of Isis/Mastdodon/Kylesa fo sho.

Re: Baroness
I really wanted to enjoy this band and have given them a fair old run but they're just either a: boring or b: sound too much like they want to be another band.
I.M.H.O of course

Re: Baroness
Naw I think theyve managed to craft a distinctive sound out of the mesh of bands/influences theyve incorporated into their music. Besides, nothing in rock/metal is completely original anymore.

Re: Baroness
they're a good band. I listen to them now and then. There's definitely better bands within their style, but they're still a good band nonetheless.

Re: Baroness
i'm honestly trying but to my ears it sound a bit like they love mastodon and developed out from there and arent very good or sure of what they;re doin.
the best sounding tracks are the mastodon sounding ones and the rest sound a bit like some crazy grunge from the early 90's.
it could be that i am ill informed and slightly mad tho.
i will continue tommorrow with intensive listens to see if it sticks....

maybe you'll just have to accept the fact that they're just not for you. Thanks for trying, but you were not meant to be a fan of them.

They definitely have stand-alone appeal. I play Teeth in a Cogwheel every morning.

Savannah, Georgia's BARONESS will release its second full-length album for an October release via Relapse Records. The follow-up to 2007's critically acclaimed "The Red Album" was recorded in Dallas, Texas with producer/engineer John Congleton (EXPLOSIONS IN THE SKY, THE POLYPHONIC SPREE, BLACK MOUNTAIN) and will see an October release.
The track listing for the as-yet-untitled effort is as follows:
01. Bullhead’s Psalm
02. The Sweetest Curse
03. Jake Leg
04. Steel That Sleeps the Eye
05. Swollen and Halo
06. Ogeechee Hymnal
07. A Horse Called Golgotha
08. O'er Hell And Hide
09. War, Wisdom and Rhyme
10. Blackpowder Orchard
11. The Gnashing
12. Bullhead's Lament
BARONESS is currently in the midst of a North American tour alongside Maryland's CLUTCH.
