i'm just checking Alghazanth out now. It's been a bit average so far (early stuff), so i got the latest one, and this is more impressive than the others. But as for 'interesting' as the thread says, haven't heard anything in it so far that has blown me away. Seems to be quite of the Symphonic BM norm.
But thanks for the recommendation

Re: most interesting black metal band around today?
listening to Blut Aus Nord's "Mort".
man this is some creepy fucking shit!
it's more black-industrial i feel.
"Mort" has really kept me listening, but at track 5, i realised each track is pretty much the same, but i guess it's a theme album, as the tracks are Chapter 1 - 8.

Dig up Osiris - Typhoon Unmasked and newest effort Wreath Of Thevetat. Both albums are darn good.
EDIT: Definetly worth of your time.

Negura Bunget
Urfaust
Walknut
Watain
Darkspace
Nothing that hasn't been mentioned, they're just my favorites, off the top of my head.

If by interesting you mean most "evolved" then probably Deathspell Omega, Negura Bungent, and Walknut even though I wouldn't say any of these are my favorite that goes to Astrofaes I judge music on atmosphere and emotion more than anything.

ugh, no, wrong wrong wrong!
Odinist tops MoRT for worst by a country mile. the latter is actually a pretty interesting listen the whole way through, while the former just makes you sit there and think 'wow, i wish the rest of the album were as strong as the opening track'
for the material in the older style, MV2 is good, very good, but i think i'd still put Ultima Thule ahead of it. MV2 is like a sincere and eloquently written letter of apology for odinist

I realy liked MoRT for some reason, i guess it's because i'm really into avantgarde shit i guess.

i love me some MoRT, easily my favorite out of their modern releases (which i guess would also include mystical beast of rebellion, work which transforms god, and odinist). give it a listen with some fancy headphones in a dark room sometime

Darkspace III was one of the best black metal albums from last year. That's a band I really hated the first few listens and after awhile, it clicked.
Another great USBM act that's come out in the last several years would be Chaos Moon. I think a lot of you will enjoy this:

Re: most interesting black metal band around today?
i also just got some of the above recommends from Pinky.
looking forward to checking them out.
I also start recording my BM project very soon (now that I've hit a wall with the remix project [waiting for people to give me their remixes]).
I'd say all this new Bm i'm finding will play an influence in the song idea and the production, but I know it'll probably be more like Emperor or Burzum production and composition
looking forward to checking them out.
I also start recording my BM project very soon (now that I've hit a wall with the remix project [waiting for people to give me their remixes]).
I'd say all this new Bm i'm finding will play an influence in the song idea and the production, but I know it'll probably be more like Emperor or Burzum production and composition
Treys solo tone actually sounds a bit thin to me on Domination. It's definitely got a wah sound to it, even if he's not moving it with food it sounds like he has it turned on.
