both those instruments predate electric guitar therefore they are primeval and satanic

I got a chance to talk with Kelly Shaefer from Atheist about ten years ago, and the topic of the Florida scene came up. When I mentioned Morbid Angel his only memory of doing a show with them was that they were drinking blood out of chalices before they went on stage (it sounded like it was Richard and possibly Trey). Then there was a period of silence, and he said something like "so, whatever..."
