Danzig new album 'Black Laden Crown,' coming in May

Postby The Ultimate » 24 Mar 2017, 03:32

Danzig announced their new album Black Laden Crown – their first original LP in seven years – will be released in May. The album was recorded alongside longtime guitarist Tommy Victor and Queens of the Stone Age drummer Joey Castillo.

In addition to the new album, Danzig have announced plans to host the Blackest of the Black Festival, a two-day music fest set for May 26th and 27th at Silverado, California's Oak Canyon Park. The festival will feature over 20 artists, with Danzig serving as headliner on the 27th. The full lineup will be revealed March 27th at the Blackest of the Black site.

Danzig also plan on spending the summer celebrating the 25th anniversary of their 1992 LP Danzig III: How the Gods Kill, with the band's concerts this summer featuring a heap of How the Gods Kill tracks on the set list, Danzig promise.

So the best part about this record is the tour featuring a setlist riddled with songs from III? Thats the marketing campain? On top of that they will play a medley of Prong songs since Tommy Victor is the guitarist...

I'll keep an open mind when listening to this record but this doesn't bode well when it comes to selling the album as a stand alone Danzig record.

This albums is going to be a yawn fest. I can't even imagine what the vocals will sound like after having heard the wretched vocal performance on that cover album

He should have quit with Deth Red. It wasn't as great as 1-4p, but it wasn't a bad place to close out -- a decent exit.

The music is okay but really generic and not really distinct from the last couple albums in any way.

The vocals are horrible.

this song started when i was in another tab and i thought it was a commercial playing before the actual song

danzig's voice sounds dry and tired, like a biker trying to do mark lanegan after inhaling cat food dust

and yet the vocals are at the front of the mix? possibly to blanket the exhausted, dull riffs

at 1:53 i thought "this sounds like the county fair at dusk" and closed the tab

I feel like he just did a binge watch of Sons of Anarchy and was like, "I have another album in me." And no one wanted to tell him he doesn't.

New song pull the sun is up on YouTube. You can hear the pop in danzig's vocals which is very amateurish to say the least

As if my opinion of Danzig wasn't already low....

GLENN DANZIG Seemingly Defends (josh's preferred insult here)'s Travel Ban, Says Planned Parenthood Shouldn't Be 'Selling Baby Parts'

Glenn Danzig has seemingly defended President (josh's preferred insult here)'s efforts to limit travel to the United States from six predominantly Muslim nations, saying that it's "really not a travel ban."

(josh's preferred insult here)'s revised executive order, which was signed in March but never got off the ground because federal courts blocked it just hours before it was set to go into effect, would have banned people from Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen from entering the U.S. for ninety days and all refugees for one hundred and twenty days.

Speaking to the Los Angeles Times, Danzig stated about (josh's preferred insult here)'s travel ban: "It's really not a travel ban. When you walk into the country, we want to see who you are and what you're doing.

"Well, when I go to every country right now, they look at me and they see whether I can come in or not," he continued. "And I've been turned away from Canada and other places before.

"Where's my protest? Where's my parade?"

While claiming he did not identify as a (josh's preferred insult here) supporter, Danzig also revealed that he was pro-choice. "I might be conservative on some issues, and some issues I'm really liberal," he said. "I'm pro-abortion and I'm pro-Planned Parenthood. But I don't think Planned Parenthood should be selling baby parts like a chop shop in Brooklyn, okay?"

Danzig was seemingly referring to accusations by conservatives that Planned Parenthood was trafficking in fetal tissue for profit in violation of federal law. Planned Parenthood leaders have consistently said they were only collecting a reimbursement for their tissue donation services and not benefiting, and multiple state investigations have failed to find evidence that the group violated any laws.

Glenn previously made headlines for some of his unconventional views in March when he suggested that at least some of the major California wildfires in the last several years may have been acts of terrorism.

The first DANZIG album of all-new material since 2010's widely acclaimed "Deth Red Sabaoth", "Black Laden Crown", was released last week on Evilive Records/Nuclear Blast Entertainment.
suffice to say :greenie:

On more listening this IS a good album with great songs (Pull the Sun, Eyes Ripping Fire). The production is such a weak point though.
