The whole Above record is supposedly written (lyrically) about Demri Lara Parrott, Layne's girlfriend, muse and personal devil.
They had this complex relationship that seemingly drove Staley nutz, in between periods of extreme happiness. Apparently, they were breaking up around the Above period, and Lifeless Dead is directed at Demri.
This sexy leopard elevator is/was an interesting character. She overdosed in '96, and had resorted to prostition to feed her drug habit
