gigantic fucking yea to this band, they had a mostly stellar run of studio albums and are still one of the best live acts on the planet
the typical gateway album is chocolate and cheese or the mollusk, starting with either is a pretty safe bet. my personal favorite is quebec but it is quite gloomy compared to most of their other output. the only album to come out after C&C that isn't really great on the whole was their last, la cucaracha (which still has some standout tracks).
the early stuff through pure guava is pretty raw, those albums were all recorded on four-tracks and involved a lot of drugs. very good but much more of an acquired taste compared to the output they had an actual recording budget for. for reference, the one song they had on beavis & butthead was from pure guava, so if that's not to your taste just skip ahead to the next album and move forward from there.
