i love me some nile they are just a bit one-note
with that said they have at least three excellent albums
i will never go past itds, it is the classic that got me into them, but i think amongst the catacombs is a purer album, bit more raw and experimental

yeah, i still love me some first three albums from time to time but i'd had enough by the time aotw came out

Worship The Animal and those early eps right up through Black Seeds are the win 100%.
Darkened Shrines is mostly pretty neat. Every album since has at least one okay song, but I sard hard.

I know this echoes a lot of generic popular criticism of them, but I do really feel like Karl sacrificed a lot of atmosphere for wankery.

Masturbating The War God... that song gives me goosebumps everytime. That middle section towards the end is fucking insane.

itds never clicked with me, it always seemed especially wank-laden after the first two albums
black seeds and annihilation are the two bike masterpieces to these ears

My black seeds vinyl gets some spins now and then but that's about it. I have some others on cd.

I like em but it just got to be too repetitive after a while. Karl should branch out more even if it doesn’t involve Nile.

it was a 50/50 split of material from catacombs/bsov/itds versus stuff from later albums for the set they did here. a much healthier mix than i expected

some albums are good, some are not.
the more you get towards their later albums the more they all sound alike.
