deftones wp/self titled era
Steph back with 6 string guitars and chino back to his old vocal style with more moaning and whispers than full on singing. His screams these days are horrible

Clayman is okay but it's not great. the album that came after that which I can't even recall the name of was total shit though and from what I've heard since they never recovered. It's shame because they were once an amazing band.
the same can kind of be said about Opeth. I loved their 4 albums from the 90's and Blackwater was basically their Black Album - good album, but a clear change in direction. I kind of just tolerated Deliverance but then lost interest in them by time Ghost Reveries came out. from what i've heard after that album - meeeeh.

spiritual black dimensions was their peak for me though I do love enthroned darkness triumphant - I'll admit it's been years since I've listened to either. lost total interest in this band after vortex and Mustis left.shadowalk wrote: enthrone era dimmu borgir

probably my favorite dimmu tune, the insight and the catharsis, is on spiritual but lately i've been gravitating towards the more riff-oriented feel and raw factor of enthroneRufus T.
