i admire the old school death metal worship but i feel like there's not a lot of original personality there yet

they sound a lot like demilich, morbid angel, and death

also i am getting older and more cynical

I thought about taking a day off work to see Immolation live a few weeks ago. Since I've already seen them and it was going to require a drive all the way to St. Paul I checked out Blood Incantation (the opening act) and that ultimately convinced me to stay home. I can respect the musicianship and the awareness they apparently have for history of the genre, but there didn't seem to be anything in the way song structure or originality, and from the live videos I saw there seemed to be a noticeable hipster douche bag factor. That last part might have just been me being an asshole though...

Seen em twice. Once opening for Demilich, other time more recently opening for Immolation. Both times were fantastic - sure they have some hype surrounding them but they are pretty fucking good regardless.

Agreed. I like what I've heard of theirs, but kind of forget what they sound like right after an album is over. Once they really hit their stride they'll be beastly.

i listened to the new album and it was exactly this, when the songs were over i couldn't remember them.

also felt like i heard a lot of the riffs before some of the riffs sound really similar to morbid angel, death, etc
