Planing to buy my first electric guitar.

Post by Hallucinating dead »

Of what is available in this country i am able to select 2, both are costing me the same.

one is Ibanez rg370dxz and the other is B. C. rich asm standard.

I cant decide which one to get

the BC rich has rockfield Mafia pickups, licensed floyd rose.

370dxz has inf3, infs3, inf4(neck to bridge), Edge-Zero II bridge w/ZPS3Fe

Both has rosewood fingerboard, but i have no idea which is better, i cant check them myself, these guitar are not available in my city. I will ordering it over the internet. :homework:

Need some mabb help.

I will be playing death, doom and thrash basically. :santa:

Also, anyone on board has ever tried those rockfield pickups ?

I've played my acoustic for a year. But yes i have no experience with tremolos. But if i am not having a floating bridge then how i am going to know what is about and how to handle it :krinor:

Also, does it take lot of time to readjust tremolo on a different tuning ?

yes. if you're buying a guitar with a floating bridge it will take you awhile to change strings. it's a hassle and if you're a beginner it's not something you want to deal with.

moving from a garbage disposal back to the dumpster but it’s an improvement nonetheless

I know you guys are correct, i understand its a bit difficult to handle it. But its like people dont have multiple guitars here, atleast not people of my age. The guitar which costs $300 in US, costs here approx 600 of USD. If i will get one now, i'd have to wait for years to get another one. We have to ask our parents for money :shakefist: And you can own a good amount yourself until you have a degree in your hand. :homework:

then why not just build your own guitar?[/quote]

I had plans but Uni told me first i need to know what kind of wood, pickups etc suits me, so he told me to first buy a guitar, get some experience then build one on your own.

Thanks for all the info guys. I think i should go with Ibanez. Some duder who own the same model told me that the fretboard is better than the B C rich's in same range.

the fretboards on either one should be roughly identical, as they're both rosewood, same scale length, fret size should be similar, and the radii are nearly identical as well (i believe the BCR is a tiny bit flatter, but not enough that you'd be able to tell any difference between the two).

personally, i'd prefer the ibanez. but i'd definitely echo what others have said; getting a floyd rose on your first electric is going to be a tremendous hassle. if you're dead-set on going that route, just make sure you get a few extra packs of strings. if you've never messed with a double-locking system you'll want to have some backups, as it's not terribly difficult to break one when you're first learning how to get them strung. also make sure you have the proper allen wrenches handy for the trem/nut locks and the intonation screws, as they're not always included with the guitar when you buy it.
