Cheap recording interface
Behringer ucg 102 guitar to usb is available here in 4000Rs ie about 80 USD and a Line 6 pod studio gx is of 6000Rs(120 usd). I was thinking if those extra 40$ are worth to put on gx?

The Indian ebay dont have much music related stuff, the ebay india can get you the product from ebay US but it will cost me much more than the product's actual price because of all the taxes and duties
There you can get that ucg 102 for 30-40 $ here its 80 $ and if i will get it from ubay(US) it will cost me about 85-90
fuck this country

Re: Cheap recording interface
Abzu and lavabug use those behringer interfaces, and ive listened their recording, sounded pretty clean. Thats why i thought it may work well. I guess i have to look up for Maudio fasttrack MKII.

I use a Korg Ampworks doodad:

It's pretty good, but can sometimes need tweaking to get the exact sound you want. Sometimes I'll turn off the effects entirely and use Guitar Rig and impulse responses instead, which I did on this one: <!-- m -->http://snd.sc/Hq7sxh<!-- m --> (try and ignore the mistakes)
EDIT: I just looked on Google and apparently it's discontinued. That might work in your favour though, there may be a few bargain ones floating around on e-bay.

Re: Cheap recording interface
yes i will be using softwares like guitar-rig and amplitube, lavabug gave me this idea. Also pedals and amps are not easily available here so i guess it will work good and cheap for me.
i've just came to know a shocking fact that few cars in india are cheaper than what amps like jcm800 costs here

If I owned physical versions of all the digital amplifiers and cabinets I've got, I think I'd need to rent a warehouse to store them all. It's definitely the way to go when you're on a budget.

Re: Cheap recording interface
I still have this question, what is the problem with cheap ones ? are they noisy ? they lag ?
I dont need it pro recording, if i am able to form a band in future and write some music i will record it in studio. I just need the interface to record riffs so that forgetting will do no harm or to record covers. So i just dont get it, the negative factors of the cheap ones.

Re: Cheap recording interface
dont take me wrong but i just wanted to say, if you are saying that one should not buy something than you should explain why ?
I know that the default motherboard soundcards are almost good as those behringer, but how about the studio gx ?

They are OK for demos, in my opinion.
I recorded two of my demos with a Chinese copy of the Behringer ucg102.

Just remember to set the latency to fast (instead of normal) in the ASIO drivers to remove lag.

Re: Cheap recording interface
I did used to have a nice Presonus thingy, but actually one of the best ways to record for cheap (if you have an actual professional microphone that is), if you have an audigy sound blaster card in your pc, you can just put a converter on the end of the mic cable and run it right in the sound card
with the right software, you can have some excellent results this way, I have done this several times
you can actually get a very nice mic for around the same price as one of those interfaces, use your skills of computer pirating, grab cakewalk or something, and bam you're recording
edit: I say Audigy Sound Blaster card, because the software used to control the levels has the ability to boost the mic signal, acting similarly to a preamp on an interface
