Lately, I've gone back to just using my amp's overdrive channel with some pretty minimal gain.

Those pedals (the digi DM and the Boss MT-2) only sound decent through a tube amp

you don't really need a distortion pedal with that amp, the valvetronix on its own can make some pretty decent tones. better than anything you'll get out of a DM pedal or an MT2 or anything, at the very least!

after exploring my amp more i know i dont have a reason for a pedal now, i can get all kinds of crazy good tones off this thing. and i can save them on different channels as well

yeah those voxes are surprisingly good for the price. i considered picking one up a few months back for something to jam with in my room, but wound up deciding to save the money instead

some of those multi-effects Vox amps have great distortion built in
if you decide you want a pedal though, check out the Boss Power Stack, surprisingly very very good for rock or metal

While it's no good if there's a lot of background noise happening, I use gStrings, an Android app.

Re: comment on my new digs
what could be a good pedal for death and thrash sound with a practice amp ?
Ive tried the death metal pedal its total shit. The MT-2 sounds very dry on practice amps. The digitech metal master sounds good and there are similar pedals there, but i havnt tested the sound by myself. What you guys would suggest ?

You won't need a pedal, I've played the roland cube and it's got plenty of gain.

gain amount has nothing to do with grit quality and usefulness
guitarists even in extreme metal use less gain than you think

Gain is not what i need, its something else, i dont know what it is, the the tone is not much aggressive, maybe its more crunch that i need, dont know.

I own a b.c rich jrv standard(rockfield mafia pups)
There is no problem with it. The practice amp is just not powerful enough to deliver death and thrash type tones.

Practice amp is for practice, man. Don't expect to get your dream tone out of it. Just practice your balls off.

Well i thought frendroid was asking if there is some problem with my guitar, thats why i told
And he was saying that the amp is good enough, but i am not saying that, thats why i asked at the first place about the distortion pedal.

the best advice I can give any new guitarist would be the wise words I've heard previously
"the really good players, it doesn't matter what gear they use, the really bad players, it doesn't matter what gear they use"
chops are the most important thing by a mile
