New guitar day. 7 string!

Well not really, I bought this off of craigslist last Saturday but it needed some bench work to be playable, which was completed today. Mockingbird N7 from early 2000's.

Came with the Duncan invader too. Not fond of it, but I've got a set of cheap pickups coming that should sound a little clearer.

i think that guitar is as ugly as my weekend poops

and the shadow makes it look fatter than kerry king on a christmas bender

but i am happy that it makes you happy :gay:

also you still have a nice couch :santa:

it is a very accommodating couch, as in it will conform around you as it is very old

I used to hate the look of mockingbirds, but after playing one I reconsidered. I now have two. :ba:

i never thought the mockingbird looked fat in pictures when i was younger but i bought one and can confirm that they are indeed fat like kerry king

this is appropriate as he used to play one

anyway i like mockingbirds despite the fatness, that is a neat one but you gotta clean those smudges up before the next photo op :shake:

what pickups are you gonna jam in there?

I am in the process of drop-filling touching up the finish to cover up the pickup ring mounting holes that the last hard-on bearer put in them, unnecessarily. I'll buff it out with auto swirl remover when I get the replacement pickups.

The 7 string body feels huuuge even compared to my 6 string mock. This is the first guitar that has made my 6'2 self feel a little small. It is like playing a very ergonomic surf board.

I have some cheap chinese invader-style pickups coming in, got the set for $16. I believe they sound different/are lower output than the real SD invader despite looking identical, which will most likely be a good thing. Absolutely zero articulation or clarity in the duncan. Might try a magnet swap if I still don't like them, and if that doesn't work, some dragonfire screamers will do. I have one in my charvel 6 string and I really like it.

Weird, are you saying the six and seven differ in body size?
I have a "slash" Mock and the white 2009 7string and both body sizes are the same. Only the scale of the 7 is with 25,5 a little longer.
Both made by WMI. IMO one of the best OEM builders BC Rich used. Same builder as all the ESP LTD, PRS SE, Chapman etc.

Mockingbirds are made by bc rich :redneck:

I did not measure the body, but it does feel like it was made broader for 7 strings. I shall use it the measuring tape, it may well be all in my head.
