My entirely subjective opinion:

Like any other newer high end fx processor, it probably sounds ballin compared to anything out there right now and is infinitely tweakable, like every other new processor. Fast forward 5 years or so when there's new, better one on the market, it may well be a completely devalued turd.

IMHO there's a point where the improvement has stopped or has dramatically slowed down, maybe enough to not warrant 3 figure price tags. How much better does the X3 pod rack sound than the XT? The eleven rack vs the successor? The new axefx and line 6 helix stuff vs their immediate predecessors? Do you need a hardware based modeler to take around or can you get by with high end software modeling like BIAS FX and a high quality sound card on a high end PC?

Some old processors from the 80's and 90's still sound really good and can be had for stupid cheap, and in many cases are hybrid/analog, although they won't do as many sophisticated things or give modern polished metal sounds (who the fuck wants to sound like periphery anyway?). The only other rack stuff that has high end effects is TC electronic stuff but they don't do amp models, so if this is what your heart is set on, go nuts. It definitely looks like it can be a fully standalone thing, I just don't know how I feel about that price tag and the cost bubble these devices seem to have. Maybe compare it to a Kemper profiler just to see if it's that much better, the kemper looks like it can do more (ie: power speakers on its own).
