Burzum-esque ambient track - need advice

Post by FUKKET »

I've now started working on my black metal project (while I await the remixes for Volumes 3, 4, 5 from various musicians).

Amongst the grimness I've made a Burzum-eqsue ambient track.

It started out as intentionally sounding like a cheap (prison issued) synth, but I've started to expand on it now using some more hi-fi synths.

Attached are 2 mp3s (zipped as mp3 ext aren't allowed).

One is using a GM (general midi) classical harp and one is using a hi-fi multi-sampled classical harp.

Which do you think sounds better or suits the vibe better?

(the black metal songs will be raw, but not too lo-fi using some hi-fi synths)

REAL HARP

thanks ladies

I'd actually go with the first one. The second one just sounds...slightly odd on some account, I can't quite put my finger on it. Either way, it sounds really cool.

Need a new signature? Why not Zoidberg? (V) (;,,;) (V)

thanks.

I was thinking the same.

Even though it's fake, it works better.

Also seeing I will not be using any other real or multi-sampled instruments, it probably works better.

at about the 6min mark a MIDI ocarina comes in. It's very Varg & Mortiis-ish :grimsanta:

The first one sounds too punchy too me, despite being the synth one the plucking of the strings sounds too distinct.

The real harp sounds more natural and flows with the rest of the music better, much more Burzum-y.
