Boss DD-3. :xx: What's the other stuff?

I sold my DD-3 recently as well as my MXR EVH Phase 90 and Dunlop crybaby classic. I've still got a Sansamp GT-2(might sell depending on what processor/preamp I get after selling my amp), Boss NS-2, and a Danelectro 7-band EQ(cheap as fuck but it's really nice).

I traded my bass to this beauty. It's a Harley Benton but one of those early awesome bentons from 2001 that were made in Japan. It's got a Dimarzio D-Activator in the bridge and the frets (21-24) are scalloped. Despite the fact that it's got a Schaller tremolo and a bolt-on structure, this guitar has more sustain than my bandmate's 4500€ Gibson LP Custom and the sound is so tight that you can really feel the resonation. Fuck you, ESP/LTD players. :tit:

I used to own 2 HB guitars and they both sounded very good after I set them both up. The otherone of those would have needed fret work but I didn't have the tools for it :(

But isn't that model neck-thru? I thought it was!!!!!

I neglected to mention that I recently just started playing kintar and procured a guitar and amp for myself. Here's my current gear...nothing fancy but hey I'm a beginner! :greenie:

Heavily-modified Gibson Les Paul (yes this is a Gibson). Got this from a fellating lover of mine who customized it like hell according to his own preferences including custom neck/fretboard/headstock (this particular Les Paul has 24 frets!), additional pickup, full black paintjob...weird, I know but it really sounds good. Been with him for ages.

Deja vibe 2 (A vintage univibe pedal, one was used by david gilmour on the dark side of the moon f.i)

Yep! I'm not a fan of that pedal. The Corrosion pedal however actually sounds pretty damn cool.

I'm generally not a fan of distortion pedals. However, the Boss Metal Zone is where it's at, as far as pedals go.

I have one of these, I haven't used it since I bought. Not because I think it's bad it's just that my little Line 6 can't handle it.

When I first started I thought this was the holy grail of tone :redneck:

It can actually sound fairly decent on low volumes through a little practice amp though... but then teh Roland Cube and fancy foot pod things arrived.

This was my step up from the "beginner" guitar, bought in a pawn shop for $210. I love it, only problem is that the action is really high, I've tried to lower it but I get fret-buzz problems. The bridge is some kind of Kahler knockoff. Never haev been able to find any info on this guitar, the original neck plate was replaced with an ibanez one before i bought it, no serial number anywhere. From the Cort forums I've found that this model (Performer Series) was made sometime in the late 80's or early 90's.

Image

My main guitar, Jackson RR3. Amazing guitar for $650, I haven't found another one that I like more within the price range. Amp - Line 6 Spider II. traded in a similar size broken Crate amp and 100 dollars for it, great amp, rhythm sounds like ass on recordings but the solo sound is nice.

Image

(junk in the closet)

the left one was my first guitar. right one - my grandpa said to me "Yeah, I have an old guitar you can have." ..thanks.. (the bridge piece is missing in this picture but I have it put up.

That cort looks awesome.

Pic attached = My charvel model 5fx. Simplistic, just 1 volume knob and H-S configuration, but it can produce some pretty varied sounds. The bridge pickup is a dimarzio steve's special.

Pic of my Ironbird, which I just revived(wired up the electronics from scratch). The pickups: Dimarzio Tonezone and a PAF Pro.

Hey Toozey, how do you like your Image

?

I have a black one and I am pretty satisfied :santa:

Re: Gear pics

Posted: 17 Jul 2011, 08:49

i sold the black one because it really sucked. it was extremely light and the frets felt terrible and i didnt like the 707. it played more like a cricket bat. id love to have a 7 string cow that ruled.

the red one is completely different, feels and sounds great but the previous owner had modified it a bit. he had the frets relevelled, new nut (which was a problem i had with the black one) and it hasa bareknuckle pickup in it.

Re: Gear pics

by Uros
Bad frets? Eh, sorry, I guess that's what you get with import guitars, some are good, some not so good. What BKP do you have in the red one?

I'm asking 'cause I am considering buying Nailbomb and putting it in instead of 707 (which is on 18v mod, and it sounds better than the stock one, but still wanna swap it for something else).

Re: Gear pics

im not very tenchical but it just didn't feel right. its a shame and it puts me off trying to get another COW incase the same thing applies.

its got a warpig in it, super super tight for rhythms and extremely clear.

Re: Gear pics

Posted: 17 Jul 2011, 17:59
by Uros
Well, mine is on the lighter side too, but it resonates like a mother fucker, really liking it. Interesting you say that about warpig, as it's really bassy kind of pickup, and COW is made of mahogany.

edit: could you record a clip or two of you chugging away with the red COW if you have the means? (even plain DI track would suffice, I could 'reamp' it)

I would appreciate it.

I do not like the gain structures of those amps. Marshalls sound more organic and musical to me. I have a pretty oldschool sound.
