I'd love this guitar made by Gernot Wagner in Germany, but it costs about $25,000.

Yeah, for that kind of money one should be an immediate virtuoso upon picking it up! There are even more expensive classical guitars ($35,000 for a certain current model, well over $100,000 for a historic collectible), but I'd like this one. The sound and workmanship are awesome.

Oh yes a Sunn Model T or an Orange Rockerverb 50 would be awesome. I guess the Orange OR15 is more in my ballpark money wise.
Btw Zim, I'll be building a sunn model t preamp pedal soon. With all the features the amp has except for the tubes. If you're interested I could build you one too.
Gotta finish a reverb pedal first.

Re: Your wants
right now, the place i live in does not allow me to have a full amp head and 4x12 for playing so i'm stuck with a mooer amp modeler (which is more than enough for my needs, really)
however, once i do get a place of my own and room for a full amp setup, this is the first amp that comes to mind
hughes & kettner triamp mark 3 - probably the most fruital and oddly satisfying high gain tone that i personally had a chance to experience first hand
too bad h&ks are expensive as fuck

I have terminal GAS, so am still looking for:
A 9-string, Ibanez RG9QM ideally for the maple top and pickups
A Les Paul type, maybe PRS 245 or a good Epiphone LP Studio
An Ironbird with a reverse headstock
An IC400 Iceman - dream would be the Giger Iceman but yeah, realistically an IC400
A Washburn MG-72, one of the ones without the naff clear scratchplate (I'm a Washburn fan and I love the early/mid gloryhole era MG series)
A Washburn EC-36 in the black splatter finish
A fretless 7- or 8-string guitar just to see WTF I could do with one
A rosewood-board Tele
MOAR STRATS

It's so low it hardly has any output or definition. It's just a flubby sound.
Fretless is pretty cool though but you need to play notes like a violin or cello to sustain them.

Re: Your wants
I dunno, I've heard quite a few people get a good clear sound out of the bottom string; you just have to use a sufficiently heavy gauge for the tension to be right, probably .088/.090 or so (I use a .072 for the low F# on my 8-string). I have a 7-string fretless bass so I'm used to smaller-gauge strings with a fretless, and I reckon it could be fun especially for my M87 space ambient stuff.

i am slowly getting tired of the string tension of B tuning on 25.5 inch scale. considering trying a baritone conversion neck from warmoth but i unno. i have discovered that i really like a wound 3rd string when tuning to B but it's hard to find that so i'm going to try some 7 string packs. should just switch to a 7 string guitar but meeeeeeeh

Plenty of people make it work well.
Maybe check the way you string the guitar. There are some tricks there to increase the tension.

i'm being a little bit of a baby right now because i had some d'addario strings i really liked but i snapped one and put on some ernie balls which i don't think i like anymore , i really hate the unwound 3rd string for how i'm playing these days. i do love tuning super low on a 6 string, makes me feel old school like carcass or cryptopsyVahmpy wrote: ↑15 Aug 2021, 20:36zim wrote: ↑15 Aug 2021, 20:28i am slowly getting tired of the string tension of B tuning on 25.5 inch scale. considering trying a baritone conversion neck from warmoth but i unno. i have discovered that i really like a wound 3rd string when tuning to B but it's hard to find that so i'm going to try some 7 string packs. should just switch to a 7 string guitar but meeeeeeeh

The local luthier is an official distributor of GHS which is why i’m using them now just because of convenience. I’m a d’addario hard-on bearer for the longest time as well.
