But good bet he was using the green dot UV7BK, right? That's the only one I ever saw him photographed with in those days. Always said he swore by the UV series and the models available were fairly limited. I've never seen him play the white pyramid one (I think Rutan has one) or even the loch ness green one, though we've seen pics of that one in his collection.
Yes , but i ment the left right difference. If he used different guitars for that.
I think it's all UV7BK in the 7 string songs.

Covenant is Gibby explorer one side, Charvel on the other. Both double tracked. He did not specify the 7string tracks.
@ Lavagod. The red Gibby explorer is in a couple of youtube vids. There is short one with just a solo. It is completely red not cherry trancelucent as the regular red ones.

Damnit Ive seen this a dozen times because..well its badass and i always thought it was his charvel!
but judging by knobs, pickups, headstock and your knowledge its a gibson. jesus christ !!! anyone gotta estimate of the cost of guitars he's got? atleast over $20,000 id say easily!

Sucks that I'm left-handed. I will never be able to get my hands on that model then.

This is not his guitar. His is the Vampire colour.
Both those colors behave differently under lights. They look different in person. This printed pic is way more red than the real life thing which has more magenta in it.

I like the vampire kiss better.
Did you know a lot of the 7420/7421 have the same necks as their 7620/7621 counterparts? The basic difference was the trem and pups. The 762x had the new seven which was kinda like the blaze, though not exactly the same and the LoProEdge instead of the TRS. I'm tempted to buy a grey 7620 whish is offered locally.. But I really do not need it.

I didn't know that! It's the Wizard-neck right? I have a black 7620 with New Seven Dimarzios, I like them but they are not good for leads IMO. Whats the diffrence between the 7620 and the universes? Aren't the Universes quite similar to the 7620s? Quite the same playability I quess? Some people over at Sevenstring forums actually prefer their 7620s over ther Universes.

Re: Trey's Guitar Collection
A lot of the 742x necks are stamped 762x. I prefer the thicker UV neck but a lot of folks like the thin wizard. That is why i prefer my RG1527 with its ultra neck; thicker and bigger shoulders. The RG's are cheaper than a UV and easy to mod. And they are fairly anonymous, they do not scream vai. And in the US they come cheap secondhand .

My guess is that this way the Vai link isn't that obvious.

FUGLY. Looks like someone ran over Rosie O'Donnell with a semi then stuck a guitar neck on the resulting splat.

Great thread, some really sick guitars in Trey's collection, and a few I hadn't seen til now. Not one of Trey's personal collection but a luthier out of Houston 'altar'ed' this Ibanez a few years ago in tribute:
