this sad excuse for solo is blasphemy. Original solo - one of my favorite solos by far.

I like Thor, but yeah he doesn't move around a lot and seems pretty chill though.

you would think someone of his experience would be a much better performer, and do something besides just stand there like he's lost.

Hey look, if you are deaf it's not my problem. If not, you could actually try to listen to what's going on when you watch youtube videos. Second part of the solo, when he originally sweeps and doing some slides is gone. Some average tapping part are played instead. If you are deaf and you need some kind of forum authority on this, go ask Vahmpy or Uni777, they will tell you the same (I don't know if they like this crippled version or not, tho).

Trey plays the solo this way for a few years now, and it's so annoying that I always frown upon.

Maybe Trey just got bored with playing the exact same solo every night! I'm more concerned with whoever has an out of tune 7th string--probably Thor.

Well, he most certainly did get bored, but a crap sounding solo is a crap sounding solo, that's how I hear it, and this is forum, so we voice our impressions. You can tell that you like it, but it certainly is not the original solo, and that's a fact.

It's not just one part, more like entire section (plus, originally, first section builds up to this second and that's where solo explodes, and in this new version those 2 sections don't make sense, they are just like some random improvisation, with no tension or anything). Why settle for less?

Change? It could be good, but in this case it isn't.

I don't like it, it's simple as that.

I didn't say that you were wrong nor that I like this version...just pointing out a possible explanation.

Rutan used to play different solos during live shows, it sounded pretty awesome being the great guitar player he is

Thor may look a bit lost and perhaps even bored, they have been playing these same songs for so many years now even Pete told me he gets bored after Nevermore and wants to play new stuff

Of course, it's totally understandable, but I don't like the change Trey made to the solo.

Gotcha. Maybe "You guys" or "Some of you" would be less confusing! :)
