i need to move around more.
Compared to Slimey Things stage movement, i'm a fucking statue!
I know I didn't move much that night because my FX were being glitchy (loose AC adapter that gafftape did not fix), and heavy movement made the power cut out & cause huge bad pops in both my amp and front of house PA.
I now have new AC adapter... and will move my arse in the upcoming shows in melbz & Brisvegas!

I'm practising tomorrow actually. Things got pretty hectic with college leading up to christmas. I have about 5 songs written though. And they are certainly not black sludge. They are like BMF/NSV era cryptopsy with some harmonic minor, diminished and chromatic styles. One is a bit like mastodon because the Hunter had just come out and one is a bit like the Crown because why not try and do 'straight-forward-but-well-executed?'
I just hope to vocalist can pull some decent lyrics out of the bag. I have a serious concern that he wants the lyrics to be a bit whereas nothing short of should suffice really.

Re: Your Current Projects
I had my first practise with the new band last night
We didnt really have much material prepared, but we jammed out a rough version of slave new world and worked on a couple of my riffs which the guys really liked. It was pretty sweet to hear them playing stuff I wrote. I'm not used to that at all.
If I can up my game on the drums (havent played in two years, but have some decent muscle memory) this will be killer, I can feel it.

Turns out we got another (better) drummer so I'm playing guitar now, which is fine cos I was writing the guitar anyway. Going for a practise tonight with the other guitarist and the bass player. I'm gonna record some stuff this weekend with some programmed drums so you guys can hear it.

The practice went really well. We have one song almost down on guitars. It's one of the more straightforward DM tracks, very fun to play.
I'm really psyked about having wayne on drums, he's one of the best DM drummers in the country as far as I'm concerned.

No I usually make my own with each project, and used only for that certain project when needed - but haven't made any .wav files per sample.
Check out <!-- m -->http://www.gearslutz.com<!-- m --> and search on that forum, perhaps you can find some uploaded libraries. Otherwise, try to download EZ Drummer + Drumkit From Hell. Or, if you have time and the CPU for it, Superior Drummer or Steven Slate Drums.

There are some nice ones in FL Studio 10. I tend to use those, though I'm beginning to lose satisfaction in the cymbals.

Yeah, the one that has about 4 levels of attack is pretty good, but at fast speeds it just sounds really machine gun like and synthetic.

Packs/Legacy/RealDrumkits/RD_Kick_2 is my preferred kick drum. Packs/Legacy/RealDrumkits/RD_Snare is my go to snare, but lately I've been messing with other snares. I don't like the RD toms; I usually set up custom toms from Packs/Legacy/FPC/Toms

i'm quite liking some of the sounds from NI's Session Drummer.
Only played with it from 10 mins, but will sound cool once I fiddle with stuff

Re: Your Current Projects
Edit: one of my riffs I bothered to tab for my bassplayer. Give it a shot if you like.
Code: Select all
Ok so it's split into 9-note sections. Each section starts and ends on a down stroke,
so once you get used to the double downstroke between sections, it should be more comfortable.
Its also handy to practise each section seperately and then in sequence.
The first few sections are the same movement, just at different points on the neck.
I think its like 9/4 or something(?)

i've got the first few sections more or less memorized, but playing it consistently is gonna take a lot of work. fuck me, i wish i could afford to replace my classical guitar 'cuz having the proper instrument would make this about 10x easier
