Do you remember the times
I used to buy cd's pretty much without information. Maybe an article in a magazine. Or tips from friends, mostly like that. Pre-internet days Would you still do that? Is there anything you bought 'blank' recently?

Re: Do you remember the times
i heard of this band m.etallica at school and so went to the local cd shop to have a look around and found the black album and got it. thought it was called "vertigo" for a few years afterwards. wasnt aware of any other albums they had til i found master of puppets and and justice for all in the shop. then wasnt aware of ride the lightning and kill em all til a few years later
i spent a solid two or three years listening a lot to justice and puppets never knowing they had two earlier albums

Re: Do you remember the times
i can't think of too many risks, but i do remember buying albums without hearing a single song from bands i liked, 2 that come to mind was obsolete, and album of the year. just walking into the store and seeing them then going "cool, i didn't know they had a new one!". that was such a treat, being blown away by albums without any previous listens to any songs or samples. when most stores got headphones where you could scan the album and listen to samples changed the game. i bought many an album that way

i also remember when i went to college, in my first year, the town had maybe 12 cd shops. then 3-4 years later there was 1. then a couple years later there were none.

Re: Do you remember the times
I remember buying cassettes without previous listen or even hearing about a band, just based on band's name, logo, album cover or titles of songs. I bought many cassettes and cd's only after reading description in paper catalogues.
